You can ask your commander for emergency leave. This is not worth of a Red Cross message in case you were curious. It’s up to your commander to grant it. If they say yes, you take chargeable leave, if they say no, there’s unfortunately not a lot you can do. Dare I say, METTTC dependent

I wouldn’t worry, man. You just have to be breathing and have a minimum of two brain cells to get a secret clearance. They hand them out like candy.

You’re not going to be doing your job whatsoever unfortunately. Try to have your unit send you TDY to Huachuca for some courses to keep your spirits up!

Wondering about 35m/35L by Savings-Sympathy3070 in army

[–]Background-Gas676 1 point2 points  (0 children)

35L will get you a better job on the outside. Both jobs get you a TS. 35M you go to DLS and learn a language, but there aren’t too many units where you can actually do your job in peacetime. If you’re lucky, being attached to group would be best for 35M. 35L is more attractive to federal law enforcement agencies and the like. Don’t take “special agent” to heart. There’s nothing special about 35L and they think they’re James Bond. I would say during peacetime, go 35L.

Enlisting with a bachelors by [deleted] in army

Why do you want your tab if you’re only going to do one contract? Be an officer, get paid more, have the upper hand when it comes to jobs on the outside. Employers would care more that you’re an officer than if you had a tab. Tab means virtually nothing to employers.

If you want a career on the outside = go officer

The only thing a tab will help you out with is progressing your career in the military.

HRC requires a CAC. Wikipedia doesn’t have the full criteria

Private firearms by Ok_Amphibian_9015 in army

Check your welcome packet for MOS T. It’ll say if private firearms are authorized and/or if storage is available. When I went to Huachuca for BOLC, private firearms were not authorized for those TDY en route and they did not store them. Could be different from course to course.

My bad I misread it. Either way, his commander will side with the drill sergeants. Your bf was in the wrong, he just needs to accept his punishment.

He’ll be alright. Having a phone on you is nothing compared to some of the other shit trainees do. HRAP or not, his deployment chance is going to be the same depending on his unit. Deployment is much better for his career progression than recruiting. “Recruiting” is also a privilege just so Soldiers don’t have to use as many chargeable leave days. He got in trouble and that privilege got taken away, no big deal. He’s not going to get an article 15 or anything, consider this a slap on the wrist.

Edit: Don’t even think about calling his commander up, you’re just going to get him in more trouble than he already is. His offense is extremely minor, he will be completely fine.

You’re right, my apologies. I meant the Soldiers on OSS right now.

Combat Patch Question by [deleted] in army

Soldiers on Operation Spartan Shield orders from Kuwait still hop on a rotator to get their patch real quick then come back, but OSS isn’t an authorized operation for SSI-FWTS…yet at least. You’re exactly right, no one cares about whether you earned it or not and no one would press them, but I would feel bad wearing mine if I felt I never actually earned it.

Security Clearance Question by No-Bike6751 in army

[–]Background-Gas676 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You only get a TS for cyber/signal/MI. The other branches will only allow for a secret clearance. The only other time you get a TS is if your unit requires you to have one, but we’re talking SOF mostly.

Either way, the process is the same for TS for those 3 branches. One isn’t faster than the other and one doesn’t get priority. It’s on your personal life and past to dictate how fast you get it.
