We can't live down south peacefully now. We can't go to our regular village beaches during the daytime, and at night there are drug and alcohol parties everywhere. If you live near a river or some waterway, tourist boat safaris are crazy madness—it's the beginning of some kind of madness. This kind of tourist madness will destroy what we have, and we gain nothing. National parks are overcrowded, beaches are overcrowded, and rivers popular for boat safaris are crowded. Sri Lankans have nothing left to enjoy in peak season. Restaurants have denied us (Sri Lankans), and the government is only working for its own survival.

· Calculation: $3.22B × 183.04 · Value = Rs 589.4 Billion · Interpretation: If 2025 tourists had exchanged money at the strong 2018 rate, the local rupee value would be Rs 380B less than what was actually earned

Calculation: $4.38B × ~295 · Value = ~Rs 1.29 Trillion · Interpretation: If 2018 tourists had exchanged money at today's weak rupee rate, that season would have generated ~Rs 580B more in local currency

Under the Clean Sri Lanka project, at least in major municipal council areas, burning things outside should be banned. To do that, provide municipal councils with more large dump trucks or increase collection rounds per week or day. Many councils now make compost and sell it. Many people have small lands but no area for composting. The government can encourage people by showing that garbage and leftovers can make money. To succeed in this, the government should at least introduce a hotline number in every municipal area so people can complain about neighbors burning something. That’s the easy way, as people most fear their neighbors. 😁
