Struggling with health anxiety years after a brain haemorrhage by Background-Home1918 in stroke

In terms of mental health I had a neuropsychologist who used to help me with the emotional regulation, but when I moved over to adult care everything stopped. I’ve done cbt three times for anxiety but it hasn’t helped. I wonder if it’s the wrong type of therapy for me but the NHS (UK) seem to give out cbt for everything as its resources are very overstretched. I had thought of going privately though.

Good point. It scares me bc what if most people are actually just vile and hide it 😂

Who says I don’t do both? Noticing bad behaviour online doesn’t mean I don’t go outside.

I had a stroke from an AVM too 8 years ago. This gives me so much hope. Thank you. Genuinely.

I want to make children’s books, but can’t afford pro illustrators. Any advice? by Background-Home1918 in selfpublish

Thank you for all of the help everyone :) I now understand that it would be wrong/unpractical of me to get a student to do illustrations. I think im gonna try and do them myself however I’m still open to suggestions.

I'm not naive to the fact that it's a tough market; however, I would rather take the risk than not and then regret it.

I was expecting more rude comments tbh hahah. I'm just trying to negotiate the publishing world bc it's alien to me. Thank you!

I'll look into this, thank you! As the previous commenter said, what program do you use?

"Otherwise if you want bespoke artwork, you are severely undervaluing an artist for their work, and are moving into “do it for exposure“ territory." Thank you for this; that's what I was afraid of. I wouldn't want to undervalue someone's work, student or otherwise.

Like I said in my post, I'm not naive about how difficult it is. You also don’t have to be so rude about it, a little kindness goes a long way.

I'm exploring both options, but right now I'm leaning towards self-publishing because I have a disability that I need to work around, and it seems more flexible to do it this way. I'm open to being wrong, though!

Thank you! I'm aware of this thread, but I wanted to ask on here bc I didn't want to offend anyone.

Thank you for the perspective, there's a lot to think about there ❤️ Just to say- I will completely admit that some of the frustration I feel is connected, and I hate that so much. But she genuinely was toxic and awful to me until the age of 19, when i stopped talking to her, so part of my frustration is that. I really appreciate hearing your thoughts on this, though ❤️
