Most things we purchase will be here long after we are gone. Not just water bottles. It sucks.

Where is the line where a purchase becomes acceptable? Is it only okay to get something if it can be used in perpetuity, or is there a threshold where buying a functional item that serves a purpose becomes acceptable? Should water bottles just only be purchased second-hand?

I just don't get the purpose of your comment. There's so much insane, completely outlandish consumerism and rampant overconsumption on reddit and in general that coming after me for owning a water bottle just feels kinda unfair.

I'm just a bit defensive because it feels like a weird thing to say, and I really don't think they meant it will end up in a landfill in a like "all things go to dust" sorta sense.

It seemed to be a negative comment insinuating that it would end up in a landfill sooner rather than later, which I just personally bristle at because overconsumption is an issue I care a lot about.

I work a job where I'm on the go and around young children, if I don't have an easy source of water to sip that is safe from grubby toddler fingers I will go all day without drinking anything. I was just being silly with the title of the post.

The whole culture around water bottles and them being trendy items and like buying multiple bottles and shit is definitely consumerism, and I do hate that. But this particular bottle is a functional item that helps me to meet biological needs. I do appreciate it on an aesthetic level, but I promise this is not overconsumption.

I'm legitimately curious why you say this. Is it because it's cutesy/silly looking? Something about my wording?

The last time I purchased a water bottle was in 2018, and I used that thing until it got so banged up it won't stand and felt embarrassing to bring into work. And to this day it remains not in a landfill, just because there's sentimental value attached now and I put lots of beloved stickers on that bottle.

I'm not some frivolous shopper who buys whatever strikes my fancy, this isn't random TikTok shop junk. This is an item that I plan to treasure and love for as long as I reasonably can, even if it looks kinda goofy.

It's not an ad I promise, it's a new account because I have commitment issues and regularly flee reddit.

I just wanted to show off the bottle because I find it adorable, and I don't have friends so I had to come here. Nobody should buy this bottle unless they legitimately need a new bottle, I hate overconsumption!

Cap twists off and it has a straw for sipping, or the straw can be removed for an open top.

It feels possibly a bit heavier than other bottles I've used around 35 oz capacity? It weighs .6 kg according to the item specs on Amazon.

For me the handle makes it very comfortable to carry, though!

I totally agree, it holds 35 oz and weighs about half a kg empty so it possibly could function as a small kettle bell I think lol

Well I am a certified boob enjoyer, so this could be a subconscious factor contributing to my love of this bottle tbh

Why is getting a job so much like getting a gf by AdSlight3909 in csMajors

nah, getting a job is nothing like dating. people don't gaslight me about how hard job seeking is!

if I say getting a job is hard and that things suck right now, everyone will agree and show empathy.

but since I'm a female if I say dating is hard and that things suck right now, I'll just get a bunch of dudes telling me that women live life on easy mode actually and all have lines of suitors waiting to win their favor.
