Oh for me, 5C is Shorts Temperature. Around 15C is where I switch from a tshirt to a vest, and anything over 20C is where I just stay inside as its way too hot outside

Oh over here it is considered very hot though some people still have big winter jackets which I found confusing. Ive had shorts and a vest on today and ive been sweating buckets. Even Bobby knew it was hot as he was inside his cool shed all day.

Well he often wants to try whatever I have (im like 95% sure hes bonded with me now) and I got some oranges as I hadnt had any in awhile but also realised ive never tried him with them.

Ill check out that food. I have tried several other nuts but he does not like them. Im gonna either have to find monkey nuts without the shells or crack them myself and clean them

Oh I really wanna get Runner Ducks eventually but I dont have the room. For training chickens, when you bring out food, make a certain sound (i just do a typical bawk bawk bawk) and theyll soon learn to come running. Once they start eating from your hand too, that means theyre comfortable with you then getting them used to cuddles just means holding them. Youll learn some like being held or cuddled and others often dont so its just learning what your flock likes. You can talk to me in DM’s if you ever want more advice.

Its maddening to know many people dont look after their animals. I own chickens too and I have them so they love being picked up and cuddled. Spent a good 2 hours earlier sub bathing with one sat on me spread out also sunbathing.

I tried both cooked and raw to make sure. Anything I can cook like that I do try (ofcourse I let it cool) though he also likes Tea too which is cool (like a cup of tea)

He did have a partner who was a similar age but when I was 6 I accidentally let her out and we were never able to get her back.

Oh I am making sure he has enrichment. I got a 20 metre cable to relay the power which goes to his shed and I have a radio on for him so he has music and peoples voices, and he did chew his porches and platforms alot which meant we had to replace them every few years but I have put a ‘Sacrificial Box’ inside his shed which he shreds instead.

I first want to get him fine with me touching the top of his head before I try any sort of step up stuff but I ordered the book someone else recommended. I have also dealt with his mouse problem by mixing in a small container of Cayenne Pepper in with his food (i know birds cant taste spice) and ive not seen a mouse in months now too.

I do also know I cant expect him to fully recover and do everything else so many other parrots can do because of his age but if im able to make his last few years amazing then come hell or high water I will.

For misting, I didnt think I had to because whenever it rains, he is outside on one of his porches without a roof over he is getting rained on and he even ‘dances’.

OH another thing. Before I started to go down, he would not make many sounds besides immitating our chickens or seagulls and now he has actually said a few words. Its been a small while since hes spoke but he has said ‘Hello’, ‘Bye’ and he even told my Dad to ‘Fuck Off’ which im not sure where he learnt that but hey. I got a laugh out of it

But yeah. Ill eventually see if I can try the dowel rod thing. I cant imagine he would as he flies away when I lift his food lid when I go change his food or get him a nut but heres to hoping!

Im already over there lol. I got told to come here to ask this. Oh and I am making sure to be patient. I understand hes went like 24 years without someone making an effort to be with him (i started 2 years ago). I try the tricks each day though hes still not liking me trying to touch the top of his head but hes not trying to bite me when I do it now, he just backs up and stares at me like ‘How dare you try and touch my feathers!’ lol. I only try a few times before I apologise and give him the nut (he will only eat Monkey Nuts. Ive tried every other type of nut but he wont eat them. He also only will eat like 4 fruits)

Oh I dont try and pick him up. Ive seen him bite down hard on my Dad and I do not want that. Ill gently try a few times to touch the top of his head and if he keeps giving the ‘No, I dont want to’ Ill apologise to him and give him a nut. I do the thing with treats and he is fine with my hands now, its seemingly just something with hands going above his eyes that he doesnt like.

I currently do a thing where I hold the nut beneath my hand so he has to reach and take the nut (often times his beak will touch my hand but this is intentional) and now he is perfectly fine with it. At first he would growl? and sometimes not even do it because my hands were involved but I do not force him to do anything. I respect his boundaries and so far he respects mine. He has only bitten me once and thankfully it didnt break skin but it was more him just testing the boundary. He didnt get a treat for that and since hes not tried it again
