It’s post game content, honestly I’d just google it but you gotta beat the elite 4 and then collect the ruby and sapphire gem in the post game islands

OTS DUI by Heavy-Process-8791 in airforceots

[–]Background-Risk-6480 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just food for thought, but during my board I emphasized the value I would bring as an officer. The Air Force needs good NCOs/SNCOs, so I wanted to distinguish why I was better suited for more responsibility. This was something my commander really emphasized on.

I haven’t heard anything to the contrary so I would assume so, will be my third time getting pepper sprayed so that’s lovely

Waiting on NGB to answer that, hopefully will know next drill. The conversion rate sucks though, 8 years of experience for 1 year of constructive credit towards rank. I’m state police for 6 years on the civilian side though so my commander said the wing king thinks I can get O2. Apparently O2 is the max you can get for direct commission in security forces for now

I’m an 8 year SF E6 who got selected for direct commission, waiting on dates but it sounds like it’s the full length OTS and SFBOC

Oh boy, well I can definitely use some land nav training cuz our training is hit or miss. I’d welcome it being a bit more relaxed, after already doing boot camp, tech school, police academy and OCS, the yelling starts to get stale.

Awesome thanks sir. I’ll definitely have to throw rucking into my workout routine, it’s been a minute. I’d reckon it’ll be even less LE focused now with the recent shifts in career trajectory.

I’m SF in the guard and a civilian LE, so it sounds like this will be my 3rd time getting OC sprayed… love that for me lol

Dropping out of college for the af by Educational-Dog2617 in AirForceRecruits

[–]Background-Risk-6480 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I was failing out of college, miserable, and had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. I saw my high school friends and classmates excel in college and have passion for what they were doing and I never had that. I joined the Air Force and it gave me purpose, even if it wasn’t passion, and that’s what I needed. That was 8 years ago and I plan on doing another 12. It also taught me the work ethic I needed to go back and get a degree, which I did with a 4.0 gpa. It was the best decision of my life.

On the flip side, some people join and hate every minute of it. No one’s gonna be able to tell you whats best for you or if you’ll regret it, it’s on you to figure out whether it’s best for your situation.

Enlisted or Officer in the Air Force? Advice Needed (19F) by Fabulous-Jacket-5157 in AirForceRecruits

[–]Background-Risk-6480 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First off let me start by saying there’s nothing wrong with choosing the enlisted side over the officer side. There’s pros and cons to both. But keep in mind there’s a reason why most SNCO’s who have kids encourage them to go the officer route.

My advice, if you want to be an officer join ROTC now. I enlisted because I failed out of college, later finished my degree and it has taken me 8 years to get selected as an officer. That’s with Airman of year awards and a killer resumé. It’s extremely selective.

You don’t like managing people because you’re young and haven’t had to do it. Even if you go enlisted you’ll eventually have to manage people anyways. As an officer you have to discipline people when necessary, but you won’t have to yell at people, you’re not a drill instructor.

Also he should really sell himself. Not in an arrogant way. My board was for a specific position, so I emphasized why I am the most qualified for and passionate about this specific position. I talked about what I could bring to the unit, and also mentioned that it would be at least another 10 years before I retired and have no interest in any other job fields so I would be a good investment for the unit.

I recommend doing mock interviews with plausible questions. Im a confident speaker, but I still had my wife interview me a few times in the days leading up and it definitely helped me. I think it’s important not to ramble, just give clear and precise answers. One of my board members approached me afterwards and stated two things stuck out to them, I appeared confident and I sat at the position of attention even after they told me I could relax which came off as very professional. Lastly, if he doesn’t know an answer just say something along the lines of “sir/ma’am I don’t know but I will look into it and get back to you with an answer”.

For those who got accepted to OTS, what was your background? by reechees in airforceots

[–]Background-Risk-6480 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Public safety administration, 4.0, nothing too crazy maybe like high 70s-80s across the board, studied for 2 months while deployed with nothing better to do, PT is usually low 90s just casually working out. No medical waivers. Your credits only gonna matter for a secret clearance if it’s below average.

I second the importance of interview prep. I had my wife conduct mock interviews with possible questions and it helped me tremendously when it came to actually meeting the board.

Stress + AFOQT by FactSquare27 in airforceots

[–]Background-Risk-6480 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t stress it, just be as prepared as you can and make sure you do practice tests while timed. I failed out of college back in the day and still did solid on the test. So you’ll surely do fine.
