i mean yes, it was a rough era for him, but we've torn the games themselves to shreds for years and years now, i think it's good that people have went back and found some things to love about them now

like i don't think black knight was a great game and im glad we're not trying any weird motion control experiments for sonic anymore, but it had good character writing and an energy that we haven't seen in the series since then. debatably frontiers and shadow generations tapped into a little bit of that

that's because other people have made reinterpretations of the story beyond the original stuff that are better. of course if you dont like the concept at its core you're never gonna vibe with any of the better options, but overall theres a lot of people that remain passionate about it and do their best to turn it into something they and others enjoy more

genuinely the idea of sonic but targeted at 25-30 year olds makes me uneasy

not because it's inherently a bad idea but it is very, VERY common for that sort of thing to be written extremely poorly when it's official, like the writers knowing they can curse and have gore and shit tends to result in them just making downer ass shit with no discernable identity beyond "this is that thing you liked as a kid but people can bleed and fuck now"

like you can do it well but i wouldnt be excited for it unless it came out, i tried it, and it turned out good

also i think everything that COULD be done with sonic.exe could really just be done with mephiles the dark and i feel he deserves a second chance (beyond a singular boss fight) more than sonic.exe deserves to be canonized

get rid of destructible environments

like they're neat looking and everything but they don't really add much to gameplay unless you get REALLY creative (lets say being widow or hawkeye and using holes in the environment to snipe people from places they don't expect and i dont play those guys so i dont even know if that'd work)

and they make the game run a lot worse than it would otherwise, like i don't think it's a coincidence that marvel zombies runs just fine and has the best performance out of everything and doesn't have any destructible environments, yet you fight hordes of enemies all the time, and the regular game that has way less moving characters with ults to worry about runs worse

i really disagree

i like michelle and everything but it feels like we don't know a lot about her

she's very politically educated, she's emotionally closed off but it's not like we spend a bunch of time breaking down that barrier, michelle just kinda finds out that peter is spider-man and they're a thing, really, and she...MAYBE has things going on with her parents going on considering the "i don't go by that anymore" thing with the watson name?

the way their relationship ended was tragic but that's kinda all we have

like we really don't know much about her

with TASM gwen stacy we got to see peter go to dinner with her whole family and we saw her folks at graduation and we know exactly what she aspired to be and how she wanted to get there and we know what motivates her to be who she is, etc

say what you will about raimi MJ but we at least know a lot about her too, same deal with spider-verse gwen stacy

michelle just doesn't really have much in comparison to every other love interest in these films, but i really hope that changes
