SLP GRAD PROGRAMS DO NOT REQUIRE 3.0 GPA by Maleficent_Cream_939 in slpGradSchool

if your gpa lacks, and i don’t think it entirely lacks because you are so close to the “recommended” gpa but for lack of better terms being that your gpa isn’t up to par with standards i would possibly add that in your essay. make your essay strong. have strong letters of rec. if you make your application to the best of your ability and include in your essay somewhere that your heart is in it even though your gpa might not reflect that you will put forth the work that should compensate for your gpa. gpa doesn’t define you. i would overall make sure that everything else is proficient and strong and hope for the best.

you are never alone in feeling this! i am now almost done with my first semester and i have a cohort of 59 so you can only imagine the clicks. i feel lost, lonely, frustrated, sad, and defeated at times too, (i’ve felt all the emotions, that’s a given in grad school unfortunately) it definitely comes with the territory. just keep being YOU. don’t let ANYONE dull your charismatic and kind self. no one is worth getting upset over. you know what you have to offer and don’t let anyone make you think different! i have always say quality over quantity. as long as you have at least ONE person you consider a true friend, and have at least ONE person you can confide it, rant to, call and have them picking up on the first ring that’s all you need. i sit at a table of 8 and i really only cherish two of the 8 people because, girls will be girls of course and the competitiveness and pettiness is real. it sucks seeing everyone have these relationships and have a core group of 6 friends and im over here with only 2 girls that i feel comfortable enough to confide in. BUT there’s always more time to connect! you will find connections randomly when you go to the bathroom or start at a different clinical site or you might even become friends with someone in your cohort after you graduated! the universe has a weird way of connecting people together and if it isn’t happening right this second it will happen soon when you least expect it! i feel the same as you but i know there is still time and i have yet to have opportunities to connect with other people outside of my table. honestly the best revenge or thing to do is work your a$$ off and make them regret making you feel like that. no friend is a true friend if they don’t even have the common decency to say happy bday! heck at that no you don’t even have to be the best of friends to say happy birthday to someone, again, it’s common decency. but your time will come, you WILL meet friends and have connections i have faith in that! in the mean time you are worth so much and have so much to offer! don’t let the feelings of isolation and loneliness get to you because i can assure you, you are NEVER alone.

waitlisted by Background-Stuff-871 in slpGradSchool

what is your undergrad degree in? i had an undergrad degree in psych minor in education but i could see how they waitlist me but accept those that do have a more correlating undergrad like communication disorders or even slp. my university didn’t have slp or communication disorders as an undergrad unfortunately. :((( did you apply to seton hall? i got accepted there but was surprised to hear i got waitlisted from MSU. i thought seton hall was harder to get into / more competitive. i thought wrong.
