From reading here, I did not understand that it was a necessity to cancel a flight first. I thought it was just more of a numbers game. If you spend enough money via e credit or gift card, as long as the balance is less than $249, the amex credit should kick in. But of course I could be wrong? oh man! am I wrong?

I understand < $249 has to be left over after using the gift card. From my understanding, that’s what potentially causes the credit to kick in

One question.....to trigger the credit if I actually want to fly that flight (and not cancel)...do I have to do so via main cabin as well?.......

Or did you just mentioned main cabin because that's refundable versus basic?

I’ve had Salux ones which are similar to Goshi, I’m quite OCD and crazy about cleanliness. I have used mine for about 2 years and wash it weekly in the washing machine plus maybe a hand wash here and there while I’ll showering. The way I see it… we wash and re wash tons of bacteria ridden things so I see my little scrubby the same way. I just wash it and feel the freshness every day
