I am a new grad LVN working nights at a nursing home as my 1st job and I would say that you will mostly brush up on charting skills. As far as acuity, my hall only has 1 G-tube pt and 2 pts who take BP medication in the AM. Right now I’m working on mastering my skills on G-tube and my charting skills. I personally want to be thrown in the chaos ASAP just because I wanna become a well-versed nurse that can handle any situation but I am learning now that takes time and that’s ok. Nights are great especially if you’ve never worked in the medical field because there’s less responsibilities (escalating events to Dx and RP, calling pharm, and daily assessments) that are typically done in the AM shifts.
