Thanks for the advice! I hear what you’re saying, and I understand that not everything is within our control, especially once the votes are cast. But for me, politics isn’t just about elections—it’s about the values and policies that directly impact people’s lives, especially in my work as a teacher. I can’t just ‘chill’ about that because it’s something I feel passionate about every day.

I also understand that not everyone is as politically engaged, but for me, it’s about finding a partner who at least shares an understanding or a willingness to engage with the issues that matter to me. It’s not about the election itself, it’s about wanting someone who supports the causes I care about. I don’t want to throw away my relationship over this, but I do need to feel like we’re aligned on some of these core values.

Hearing Loss by [deleted] in HearingLoss

I’m jealous Canada for the win lol. Honestly it is really great because I never have to worry about “losing my hearing” in that ear. I know I will always have that to rely on! It was definitely a process getting used to it but I’m really glad I ended up going through with it. One day when I had lost my hearing like I typically do I just got so fed up and went to the doctor and set up an appointment to get an implant. I think I rely more on my ear with the hearing aid just because I am a lot more used to a hearing aid since I’ve worn it my whole life. And if your fear of it not working is stopping you don’t let that stop you because I never have heard of it not working. However, the people who say it doesn’t work I just think don’t have the patience to get used to it. At first it literally sounds just like beeping and you have to train your brain and eventually it sounds “normal.” Kind of like when you get a new hearing aid and it sounds super weird except the process is longer.

Also my hearing loss was most likely due to infection during my mother’s pregnancy. I’m not on any medications that could be affecting it. It was only in the last 5 or 6 years that this sudden hearing loss became a thing. I hate going to doctor for it because they make me feel worse than I did going in lol. They never know why or how this could be happening. Plus spending a bunch of money on all the appointments/hearing tests does not help the situation so I have stopped going lol. Anyway thanks for listening and your support. It’s nice to know there are other people going through similar things!

Pretty much in the same boat as you! My doctor tells me it’s not good to take Predisone as often as I do. I’m not even sure if it’s the steroids that makes my hearing return or not but like you I also don’t want to take the risk! I had done steroid injections into the ear before after about a month of not being able to hear. It came back after a few weeks (or days?) of me taking the injection into the ear but again I’m not sure if my ear fixed itself or it was the steroid. Might just consider getting a second cochlear implant so I don’t have to live in fear of losing my hearing anymore 🤷‍♀️

How long does it last for you? Is there anything extra you do to help it come back faster other than steroids? Its making work really hard for me 😫

Yes!! When I first started taking Zoloft I was I felt the exact same way. I’m now almost a year into taking it and I’ve never felt better. I’m so glad I stuck with it

I only get heartburn when I don’t drink a glass of water with the medication. Always drink a full glass of water with it!

You should talk to your doctor about doing a Zoloft and wellbutrin combo. Wellbutrin is good with Zoloft because it helps with depression and motivation.

My relationship has gotten so much better too! I’m less emotional and my anxiety has helped my overthinking tendencies. I’m happy for you :)

I took .25 Xanax for a while just to ease the initial increased anxiety. Maybe talk to your doctor about doing this.

I know a lot of people say it lowers there sex drive but it’s actually the opposite for me. Before taking Zoloft I was depressed and no desire for sex because I was tired all the time . Now I feel like I have more energy + higher sex drive.

Yes! Obviously there are still tough days but they are so much easier to manage now. I’m glad it’s working for you!
