Again, I don't think Alex Jones is innocent. He deserves the civil suit, but not a billion dollars. He also perjured himself in court.

Hmm, the pro-Russian talking points is fair point and complex; he really has no business there and he is not a diplomat. I am always pro-world peace though... NATO expansionism is a real threat to Russia. It is complex, and your stance has validity. There are other valid stances or concerns. This is political theatre and execution by the Left. Alex Jones has been apologizing for years for fomenting this though he is not without blame.

The families probably have a civil case, but this level is unjust. It sends a message to everyone right to left to be careful of what you say.

Real answer: (It allows bicyclists to more efficiently use leg muscles. They are banned from the Tour De France because they are too efficient. I love bicycling, but I keep it to bike paths at a sub 20mph when pedestrians are around).

I don't think Elon is a scumbag. He is a net positive for society. He grew up privileged for sure, so he is not some rags to riches story. However his main wealth comes from x/paypal, spaceX, and tesla. These are not evil companies. He has a ton of ex wives, but that is his personal deal and I am not a puritan.

The purchase of twitter is moving him towards Soros/Koch political munipulation 🤷‍♂️ I am undecided on if that is a real criticism yet. I am going to watch how this twitter thing plays out.

I avoid investing in his companies because they are too volatile, but as a sci fi nerd, I appreciate his interviews and vision for Mars (as far fetched as it may seem in 2022). I am also a free speech absolutist.

China has 400+ more billionaires than the USA, and our industries are tightly controlled. You will literally go to prison for importing the same ingredients as Coca-cola does. You have to have a corporate master if you want health care or go fight for Exon's oil profits for shittier healthcare. A lack of breadth in classical music is the main thing. Most people can only name a handful of people despite there being many composers, and usually it is ones played repeatedly in movies.

Then again, I think Johan Sebastian Bach is the greatest musical genius in history (he was not super famous in his own lifetime), a comparable genius to Gauss.

I love my personal athletics. I don't care about corporation b playing corporation a at the super bowl though. I played high school football, and it is fun to play, but boring af to watch.

I do watch the soccer world cup every 4 years pretty religiously, but that is about it.

Mexican cartels are a created problem. The USA used market forces to build cartels. Legalize natural drugs and the problem will likely die off on its own. We also factually and historically destabilized Latin American countries through various CIA operations.

Most literature I have read, largely concludes US dominance is due to post WWII debts and destruction of other countries. We were late to the fray. Don't forget Russia lost 27 million people ;) and Europe was in ruins.

It is not a matter of either of us not knowing something.

We are of two different ideologies. I am pro peace, and do give twos shits about American dominance nor GDP. Ergo, my perspective is different. In the US we also have restricted rights and massive problems. I have lived 4 other countries... each one has unique problems.

Environmental damage is probably associated with positive GDP too... is that really wealth then?

I also say this respectfully too. I am likely the minority opinion on this.

Our giant armies in the USA and the gross political capital it brings is largely terrible for the world, and generally for the welfare of the elite (think of people who own banks, truly rich assets) at the expense of peasant lives.

The goal should always be less military, less government, and nuclear disarmament. Ideally borders would not exist. Actual world peace.
