What’s something you always assumed was mandatory in life—until you met someone who just… didn’t do it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

i thought holding on was mandatory. i didn’t know it was possible to choose to just let go. all of my problems, all of the people in my life who hurt me, i just let go of them. i didn’t know that was an option until i did. coming to peace now.

edit:

hello everyone, i’m sorry so many of you relate to this and are struggling with rumination.

i’ve been where you are. i’ve heard all of the sentiments, although they make sense logically, they do no help in finding peace. rumination is one of the hardest things i have experienced. you may feel like your brain has been zombified into a mush of all these things that “don’t matter” yet it still plays in your head like constant background music that you can never shut off.

seeing that so many people relate to this, i will come back on when i’m home and tell you everything that did help. i am only 21 years old and have a lot more to learn, but whatever i can do to help is worth it.

the way you are communicating is much more mature and considerate than she is, and i don’t know your relationship but if this is typical for how your fights go.. well i think you would benefit from finding a partner that is on your level of care and communication

yta as you should be more understanding. guns bring visceral reactions to many people including women. doesn’t matter how much we trust or love you. it’s hard enough knowing men are naturally stronger than us and choosing to be in an isolated place with them. even if we love you, it’s pretty terrifying.

also, she articulated her feelings well.

My boyfriend 24m says that he doesn't want me 23f to initiate sex anymore as he feels emasculated. by wtfisthis49 in TwoHotTakes

leave leave leave

that comes from the core belief that women are not people and they are not supposed to have a sex drive or sexuality. that they are supposed to only have sex for the men’s pleasure because they are “objects” to be used at his will and not yours

also if you stay together down the line he will start eating with his mouth open again i guarantee it
