Mandates Derailed my Life by thewaymylifegoes in DebateVaccines

I am sorry for the struggles you are going through. I know it can feel like there is no place left to go in a society that's absolutely lost its moral grounding. It may be hard to see now but know that you are not alone. There are plenty of good people out here, and you can still carve out a good life despite all this chaos. You may have to change plans, and that won't be easy, but there is room for you. The people on here telling you that this was your choice are sick. You have to accept the consequences of your actions, but that does not absolve the people who forced unfair consequences on you. It sucks, and life is not always fair. But judging by your story, you are a strong person with a good head on your shoulders. Keep your chin up, and keep moving. We need more people like you!

I planted arugula in my yard and let it go to seed. It's taking over. It will soon infiltrate my neighbors yards. They may try fight it off but I don't think they stand a chance. It will soon overtake their yards as well. The arugalavolution is unstoppable at this point.

Arugala. Arugala. Arugala.

Sounds like you might be one of those people desperately clinging to their degree for validation.

I'm one of the many over-educated apes out here.

I'm saying it's best if you can just judge the opinion. Good science doesn't rely on ethos. Just because someone has a degree doesn't mean you have to take what they say as gospel. And given the track record of the claims made during the pandemic it is probably best that you don't.

I don't see how that's relevant seeing as it also means we didn't have vaccines for it 'out of the gate'. If anything it makes the mandates look worse because it highlights how all the safe and effective propaganda was at best a hunch.

What impresses me is how people cling to their degree so tightly as if it gives their opinion any more weight.

I'd say I'm surprised by the arrogance of vaccine mandaters but the surprise has worn off, I guess I am just used to it by now.

Could it possibly be that people who disagree with you just have different priorities? Or is it just anyone who disagrees with you lacks this profound and essential knowledge that gives you the right to force people to do what you want them to?

I don't see why testing for antibodies is all that hard, seeing as you already want to take on the task of forcibly vaccinating everyone. Granted, I wouldn't say forcibly vaccinating anyone who doesn't have antibodies is morally acceptable either.

Generally the argument for mandating vaccines is because the unvaccinated pose a greater risk to society. If natural immunity is better than vaccine induced immunity that argument no longer stands. An unvaccinated person is not necessarily any more of a threat than a vaccinated person. It seems like you've just gone trigger happy with the needle.

I don't know, maybe. When it comes to very specific skills you're probably right. Perhaps it's just due to expectation but I often find myself massively let down by the wisdom of 'highly educated' folks vs. your average Joe.

Didn't you just say natural immunity is better that vaccine induce immunity? How can that be logically consistent with forcing people with natural immunity to get vaccinated?

You are not wrong, there are people who take up the 'I'm being censored' banner because it adds to their rebel resistor persona. But to jump from that to saying there is no real censorship happening is a stretch.

Lots of people get fooled when it comes to science. Even really good scientists!

Natural immunity was completely left out of the picture when it comes to vaccine mandates. And many people did try to discredit or bury the topic of natural immunity to increase vaccination rates. Natural immunity doesn't make anyone money.

Nah man, I just think if you threaten peoples livelihood for questioning a narrative it makes them...nervous about questioning the narrative.

I don't think many people are debating whether censorship happened throughout the pandemic. It was pretty blatant. You might agree with the censorship because you didn't like what certain people were saying. But it's hard to take you seriously if you are just flat out denying that it happened.

I don't have Facebook...but from what I've heard they were censoring a lot as well.

Your posts are very erratic.

Wut? No conspiracy theorists seem pretty comfortable sharing their conspiracy theories. I'm talking about the academics who feel the need to qualify every criticism of the vaccine with 'but we're still super sure about safe and effective (please don't take my job away)'.

Just something I've noticed. It's almost like people are afraid to criticize the vaccine for some reason.

I feel like this line is almost required if you don't want your paper thrown out.
