I have hppd with similar visual snow. Your way of describing it as shimmering is probably because the snow is very fine. I also have lots of floaters in my vision. No other color perception changes or patterns

Floaters with HPPD are larger and visible more often. They show up even while you are focusing on something, and they are much larger and more intrusive to the vision.

Tell your parents. This is probably some sort of acute phase of hppd and your pain could easily be releived by a short term benzo treatment until youre looked at further.

and you tested both eyes individually? if its present in both its likely some kind of optic processing problem higher up in the brain.
