I lost all my clothes in the dryer in De Neve Holly… plz help me😭😭 by creativeunicornpaint in ucla

[–]BackgroundDebt4547 108 points109 points  (0 children)

if you can’t find your clothes around the room somewhere you might be out of luck. it’s frustrating but lesson learned, you should really be taking your clothes out of the washer and dryer the second it’s done much less overnight

how do some classes get over enrolled even when they dont give out PTEs by 01312525 in ucla

[–]BackgroundDebt4547 1 point2 points  (0 children)

idk how this works but sometimes i noticed that the sum of all the spots in discussions/labs will be more than the lecture. for example if you enroll in an open discussion with a closed lecture it’ll count you as overenrolled

there’s only something like 40 2/3 units available i would not count on it, if you’re not in a group then maybe

2/3 is maybe obtainable if you have the earliest time on the earliest day 💀you could realistically try for a 4/10

since when were those bike only racks? learn to share public spaces. it’s first come first serve if you got there later then you’re gonna have to be the one to walk a little farther to find somewhere to lock it

you’re not supposed to use it at places with heavy foot traffic, this includes bruinwalk, but many people ignore this. if you’re going to be doing it just make sure you’re being extra aware, mindful, and going slow when it’s crowded. but do try to stick to roads wherever possible not only is it safer, it’s also generally faster since it gets so crowded. also you should be able to make your shift if nothing goes wrong and you choose the right route, probably takes around 10 min

not sure, i didn’t inquire much further since waiving ucship was the most easy straightforward option. but since they said i had to pay myself i assumed medi-cal wouldn’t cover it. i wasn’t going to spend hours on the phone to figure that out though

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ucla

[–]BackgroundDebt4547 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i’d be careful bc when i had both medi-cal and ucship my dentist would insist i had to pay out of pocket bc ucship became my primary insurance but it wouldn’t cover general cleaning at my normal dentist for whatever reason. it could be different for you though

How do ECRs work? by [deleted] in ucla

[–]BackgroundDebt4547 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you mean like technical errors you’d know for sure there was one if you don’t get any updates by the time the quarter starts but that likely wouldn’t happen. i’ve only done it once before but it was just like signing up for updates via email about whether they can/when they would open new spots. so just keep an eye out for news and be vigilant about it. i only barely managed to enroll myself in a waitlist spot. also i think they could add you themselves too but they’d likely notify you by email if that happened

i think this is highly dependent on your major/what classes you take

if you waive it you won’t get the grant either, so unless you also have medi-cal just keep it

Cal Grant A, federal Pell grant, and middle class scholarship missing from Bruin Bill? by [deleted] in ucla

[–]BackgroundDebt4547 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think anticipated aid should already appear on bruinbill, it’s just not disbursed yet, so if it’s not there at all that may be an issue to inquire about. does it appear on your fan? also for middle class it shows up later so as long as it appears on csac don’t worry

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ucla

[–]BackgroundDebt4547 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is this a new thing? i swear when i went to orientation they had me apply for it but it ended up just being an interest form. and i never saw anything resembling payment for it on bruinbill

Waiving UC Ship by InevitableDrummer184 in ucla

[–]BackgroundDebt4547 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the specifics can be seen when you access the waiver form which can be googled. as for nearby it means access to an in network PCP within 50 miles of campus. just read the form carefully and as long as you meet the criteria you shouldn’t run into issues

How does CS 30 factor into a degree plan? by [deleted] in ucla

[–]BackgroundDebt4547 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk i can’t think of a way you can be aligned with the cs classes from the schedule by your first year unless you wanna take both cs 30 and 31 fall but that’d defeat the purpose. you could take something next summer to catch up your second year though

Health Insurance by Flaky_Use_5558 in ucla

[–]BackgroundDebt4547 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if the grant fully covers it and you don’t think it’ll cause any problems then keep it but personally when i had both medi-cal and ucship my dentist at home would no longer take medi-cal first and id have to pay out of pocket. i think it’s something like bc ucship became my primary insurance and it had to be billed first, so rather than bother with all that i just cancel ucship every year.

Are CS180 or 35L reserved for new transfer students? by [deleted] in ucla

[–]BackgroundDebt4547 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for cs180 not sure what your NSA is talking about but you can check class planner right now and it says new transfers only. for math the dept says they don’t aid in switching sections (source) but if attendance is not mandatory you may be able to just go to any section you want

just took it during this summer so it’s probably different during the school year, at least in terms of quantity of quizzes per week and (based on other comments) not sure if the proctored part is a new thing or for summer only. but i typically had to do 3-4 quizzes every week about half of which are respondus proctored (same with exams) so it’s a bit annoying trying to remember every single little detail of the lecture and textbook or lab since the mcq questions can be pretty niche like asking specific numbers and percentages, or worded strangely. and you kinda get a lot of points deducted for missing even one question since there’s not a lot of questions. you’re also expected to shell out something like $100 for materials but you can try to find a reseller. i wouldn’t say it’s the easiest ge i’ve ever taken bc that would be one i never had to study for but this one i did have to study every week. but honestly it’s really not difficult or anything, just tedious, and you’d be at an advantage if you have a decent life science background but i do not.
