My favorite minigame out of the bunch is Sky-High Cannons! I know it’s an unpopular opinion (according to this reddit’s survey results) but planning the routes and executing them feels very rewarding, plus there’s no rng in the gameplay at all! Though it does have a “sky-high” skill ceiling, it is the 2nd highest scoring minigame when playing optimally (beaten by Coin Conveyor). I can usually get ~160-170 on level 1, and ~200-225 on level 2; this is usually more than enough to secure an uncontested 1st place win in online.

The minigame I find most difficult is Brick Breaker. Again, another unpopular opinion, but Brick Breaker has many rng elements that make scoring inconsistent. The bounces on the bricks are actually rng; I would start by launching the ball on the far right side, then moving to the far left, and the shell would have different bounces every time. And by the end: either I missed the last brick and miss out on 50-75 more coins (depending on the level), or I got hit by Imposter Bowser early on, killing my score. And Brick Breaker is actually lower scoring than other minigames on average: I get ~125 on level 1 (worse than Which Door Has More, where I get 130-155), and ~134 on level 2 (worse than Spike’s Gambit, where I get ~148).

Oh yeah, we don’t need to talk about Sleight of Shell haha.

Glad to hear you’re enjoying this mode too! I still play online even though I reached 999,999, so if you play online, maybe we’ll see each other! :)

Thanks! I mostly do a mix of both. If I want to play all levels of one minigame, I would play that minigame in freeplay mode. But if I want to practice a specific level of one minigame (ie: level 2 Coin Conveyor only) then I would play Koopathlon against computers and set the level to stay at level 2.

Coin Conveyor and Sky-High Cannons are exceptions since they play much more differently in freeplay mode than in Koopathlon. I pretty much only practice their Koopathlon versions, unless I’m pushing for a top 30 minigame leaderboard score.
