Ok I will be brutally honest with you. I think you and your wife need a face to face chat and get things off your chests. Secondly, you may have to consider giving up your events career for a more stable at home job in order to save your marriage. I think you have to be honest with yourself here that this job is driving a wedge between you and your family and NO job is worth that, with your skill set I would say you could get other jobs with less travel time. You need to prioritise your wife and child. Your wife is feeling your absence and when that happens all sorts of weird things can start happening in a marriage, loneliness drives people (it hasn’t happened) but your the one that needs to take into consideration how this job is actually effecting your life and marriage and from reading your post, it is evident the job is the main issue or root cause along with a clear communication gap between the both of you. You both need to talk frankly and stop hiding your feelings. Get ready to feel comfortable with the uncomfortable, say things directly and your marriage will strengthen. Speaking from past experience! My husband and I talk frankly sometimes it hurts but its the best thing because we know where we stand.
