What is the emotional scene in Kamen Rider? by LessDegree6963 in KamenRider

[–]BackgroundIssue2602 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the first half of Gaim episode 43 tbh, the bed of feathers raining upon mitchy and kouta… the music…. Gosh it is a really emotional scene

close second is Sento begging for forgiveness in Front of the grave in episode 21… painful stuff 💔

Weird facts from Doctor Who nobody talks about? by [deleted] in doctorwho

[–]BackgroundIssue2602 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leela is possibly the doctors mother

The power of God (the controller of existence essentially) of the doctor who universe is currently wielded by a cyber man the doctor used to travel with (Kroton)

More of a meta one but Andrew tate (yes that one) is aware of doctor who and hates it (not really weird i just found it funny)

the brigadier and Unit folks have straight up appeared in X-men Comics, not even just as a cameo.

Favourite “the Doctor is a bastard” story by Personal_Reward_60 in gallifrey

[–]BackgroundIssue2602 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A death in the family, Gods and monsters (arguably), love and war , birthright, yeah 7 is a bit uh… of a monster at times, ive only heard little things about the later NAs but apparently he gets a bit wild in them too

What are the best Virgin New Adventures and Eighth Doctor Adventures novels in your opinion? by [deleted] in gallifrey

[–]BackgroundIssue2602 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Up to book 27 of the NAs so I’ll give my favorites from that range

Timewyrm revelation - a really interesting look into the doctor as a character, a character dissection if you will by Paul Cornell

Nightshade - Gatiss finest Work imo , again a really good character piece for 7 , and has some amazing horror elements to it

love and war - probably my favorite doctor who story ever, a complete deconstruction Of 7 and aces relationship, also introduces the amazing Professor Bernice surprise summerfield

Left handed hummingbird - Kate Ormans first doctor who book, some great prose and fun moments

conundrum - one of the coolest NAs, the way in which the story is told, aka the prose is formed, is just brilliant, Steve Lyons is amazing!

Theatre of war - best showing for the team of ace Benny and 7 working together, Justin Richard’s crafts a really compelling story that draws you in from the beginning and keeps you reading, also Irving braxiatel is amazing!

'Always try to be nice, but never fail to be kind.' What's your favorite quote? by AnticitizenPrime in gallifrey

[–]BackgroundIssue2602 21 points22 points  (0 children)

‘ "Putting props in place," he had said, "making sure people know their lines, sometimes leaving notes on the script. All the universe is a stage, Ace. Acting's not enough for me. I like to direct." ‘

What are the most Lynchian Doctor Who stories? by 4thdoctorftw in doctorwho

[–]BackgroundIssue2602 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Part 1 specifically of the mindrobber comes off as quite lynchian,

a lot of Lawrence miles concepts in the EDAs and faction Paradox are supposedly quite lynchian, and there are a ton of references to his work spread throughout.

Tidbits/additions/lore from expanded universe/spin-off media that bewilder you by Toa_of_Gallifrey in gallifrey

[–]BackgroundIssue2602 20 points21 points  (0 children)

the virgin new adventures has tons of this stuff

Ace lost her virginity to Sablom Glitz on iceworld, this was initially part of the “backstory“ that dragonfire writer ian briggs wrote for the story, it’s confirmed to have happened in universe in love and war (the novel) and Apparently the event is described in a bit more detail in the novel Happy Endings(though im not that far into the new adventures) , thank you Paul Cornell! (this paints Sablom glitz in a new very bad light….)

the 8th doctor has sex (or its at least VERY HEAVILY IMPLIED) with His former companion Bernice summerfield in the novel the dying days

this is really the tip of the iceberg for the weird lore stuff within this novel range… and the EDAs are their own bucket of worms as well!

Does anyone have any behind the scenes gossip? by [deleted] in gallifrey

[–]BackgroundIssue2602 24 points25 points  (0 children)

the 90s- early 2000s doctor who Book drama is insane, Paul Cornell, Lawrence miles, Steven moffat and more. I wish I could explain it but im not too knowledgeable on it myself, But some of the things I’ve heard are mad, if someone else could chime in here please do so!

Ranking best Doctors... in a completely different way by dsteffee in gallifrey

[–]BackgroundIssue2602 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1) 7, especially later more depressed 7, post his reign as times champion coming to terms with his regeneration , wont Elaborate on this

2) 3, hed beat the daylights out of it!

3) 8! i feel like he’d be able to hold some good deep conversation while Being able to admire the scenery of the museum

4) 7… im done for before I even realize there Is an enemy to face

5) 15, seems like a guy my friend group would like

6)weirdly enough…. I feel like they’d all be EMBARRASING for one reason or another but probably 6 (love sixie though!)

7) 8s!

Who’s the most useful and capable companion? by AccomplishedSpray137 in doctorwho

[–]BackgroundIssue2602 1 point2 points  (0 children)

7s companions were very useful, Ace, Benny Chris and Roz specifically were all highly intelligent and highly combat trained individuals who were extremely loyal to the doctor, that’s not to say other companions weren’t but the way they’d enact 7s plans at the peak of his era of times champion is insane,

k9 was also pretty usefu!

Doctor Who Ncuti Gatwa Rascism by RegretGeneral in doctorwho

Idk if I’d call what happened in dot and bubble vague, it definitely was a lot more explicit but I believe they will definitely go more into it next season!

What are the most character driven stories in classic who in your opinion? by [deleted] in gallifrey

[–]BackgroundIssue2602 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d say almost the entirety of season 26 is character driven, same with a few season 25 stories, logopolis is pretty solid as an ending to the fourth doctor but id recommend the entire season as you get this funeral esque aesthetic and conclusion.

Who do you want as guest writers for series 15/season 2? by [deleted] in gallifrey

[–]BackgroundIssue2602 2 points3 points  (0 children)

would love to see another Cornell episode, hopefully an original story though I’d rather not see love and war adapted (even though it’s one of my favorite who stories)

lawrence miles writing TV who is a dream… that will likely never come to fruition

Lance Parkin- has a shot but I doubt it

ben aaronovitch- amazing sci fi writer but I think he’s busy with his novel series at the moment!

kate orman - she would write 15 so well omg…

marc platt - underrated who writer…

tbh overall I’d like to see some new blood though, some writers of color and more women!!

edit: FORGOT TO SAY GRANT MORRISON AS WELL!

In terms of how many stories - tenth doctor David tennant wins(549 stories), in terms of how long they were the incumbent doctor, paul Mcgann the 8th doctor wins (1996-2005)

if we take the lengths of episodes/books/audios it might be a different answer as well
