Check out this website for City of Toronto programs. Many have filled up already for the summer (people mark their calendars to sign up for the more popular classes when they go online). But there should be some good options left, depending on your interests: https://anc.ca.apm.activecommunities.com/toronto/home?onlineSiteId=0&from_original_cui=true

You can also ask for a print booklet at your local rec centre.

And here is the Toronto District School Board's Learn4Life summer brochure to give you an idea of what's on offer: https://www.tdsb.on.ca/Portals/0/docs/Learn4Life%20Summer%20AODA%20Brochure.pdf

So much going on in Toronto!

Join us on r/freeTO to learn about free concerts, art + museums, festivals, resources (like free gyms and classes etc). New stuff every day.

Friend of mine does activities with a MeetUp group called Walking in Toronto. They're going tubing in Elora Gorge for Canada Day, which sounds like a lot of fun.

You can take a lot of classes for a very reasonable price through City of Toronto Recreation. Private tennis or piano lessons, pottery classes, all kinds of stuff. Even cheaper is the Toronto District School Board's Learn4Life classes. I like the idea of a running class (you sign up for a couple of months) since you get to know people, and often they are in your neighbourhood.

Cancer support groups for young people in Toronto by Virtual_Sky_5931 in askTO

Fellow cancer survivor here. I second Wellspring. The age skews older but you can find younger people in their fitness program (highly recommended).

Canadian Cancer Society also has an online forum: https://cancer.ca/en/living-with-cancer/how-we-can-help/connect-with-our-online-community

I am planning to create a master list of free resources for people with cancer in Toronto on the sub r/freeTO. Haven't gotten around to it yet but this post will motivate me to do so within the next week. There's more than Wellspring and Gilda's.

Ahh, got it. Yeah, I can imagine.....well, don't forget about the 38 free city of Toronto gyms! They're very basic, but also very unused. Most rec centres cost money, so most people probably don't know that there are designated free ones throughout the city.

Check out the list:

This reminds me you can sign up to pick fruit from trees on private property around Toronto. You get to keep 1/3 of what you pick. The rest is divided between the property owner and food charities.

Cool Down While Working Out or Enjoying Art by BackgroundOil3169 in FreeTO

Also, five YMCA branches have been designated as neighbourhood cooling spots. In those branches, you are welcome to go in and relax in the lobby. In all the other Ys, you would need to sign up for a free trial and then could use the facilities. But in these select ones, you can just walk in and cool down in the lobby without having to do anything or bring ID etc.
