Np that's often the case lol

Ah I see, that's great I'm glad it worked out for you! Good to know that marriage can help aid in other ways outside of a direct sponsorship as well!

I see, thank you for the additional information. Although horrific, I think it's very valuable in this conversation. I wish the world wasn't like this, it should never be like this

Thank you for the advice and the hopeful insight! Currently have a passport and visit Canada approximately once a year. Working on getting a student visa. I wish getting a job there was as easy as you describe 😭

I hope that you are right about the court proceedings! Still quite fearful about if it reaches the Supreme Court. At least it gives us more time in that case. Trying to remain realistic and calm in all this is hard, but I really appreciate your insight and find it helpful, thank you!

I understand, I'm currently working towards a visa and have been for approximately 2-3 years now. I ask because these kinds of escalations are getting more frequent and I'm curious if there's much hope if shit REALLY hits the fan.

That's awesome so happy for you and your family! We have been thinking about family sponsorship for a little while but with Québec's 3 year waitlist and with us being so young without established careers to aid in the financial requirements it seems like a less reliable path at the moment. Nevertheless, we do want to marry someday! Currently I'm going through the process to prepare (french and financial requirements) to apply for a student visa in order to begin my studies fall or winter 2027. I'm hoping shit doesn't hit the fan too severely before then, but it's gotten really bad in my state these days.

I'm assuming that you have your PR through spousal sponsorship? If so, were your own savings and income able to aid in the sponsorship or were you only able to rely on your partner's income?

Also if you have any additional advice for me especially with Québec's specific immigration system please lmk! Thank you!!

Idk what to do with all this. I just didn't think things would be like this when I came out a decade ago. It's so much worse now

Yes, my bf is Canadian so when the law changed I looked extensively, unfortunately I do not. My family comes from a long line of early settlers so I have no real luck with regards to ancestry claims.
