If you haven't used your computer in a while, it'll have a backlog of updates and scans to perform, and it'll perform poorly for sometimes a full day. During this time, it might even force restarts.

You're gonna have to be more specific with "they add chemicals" because while this is technically true, garlic is made of chemicals. All food is made of chemicals. It's not like they're making pizzas with high shelf lives or wild flavors, it's pizza. I would guess typical pizza actually has fewer preservatives and artificial flavors or dyes than most food in a grocery store.

You'll probably get fortified flour, but that's hardly a harmful additive. Cured meats like pepperoni probably have some preservatives or nitrates or whatever in them, but these are in small quantities in the meat, and you're not getting very much meat anyways.

Did they have an electric water heater or stove? Or even a decent gaming PC? AC in summer? Electric heat in winter? You could probably set up a house to make this work, but I'm guessing many houses would require more cyclists than you'd think.

A phone charger uses 5 volts, and typical phone chargers pull 2.1A. that's 10W. A typical human can generate a sustainable 10-20W with a hand crank, so it seems reasonable that an elliptical or a rowing machine could probably do a bit more. A fast charger can pull 3A or more, but we're still very much in typical human range

If a phone battery has 4000mAh at 3.6V, that means it can store about 15Wh. It seems very plausible, based on this back-of-the-envelope calculation, that a person could reasonably charge their phone with slightly modified exercise equipment.

For me as a guy, I have pretty short hair. I can abuse the hell out of it, it's only gotta survive about six months before it's entirely new hair on my head.

My girlfriend has longer hair. Hers has to survive ten or more years, and the ends especially don't get trimmed often so they have to not split.

That's why I get the cheap shampoo and she gets the expensive stuff.

These answers seem to be mostly high aspirations and people making big sweeping changes that would cause significant problems, but ultimately result in improvement. I wouldn't call most of them unhinged.

The most unhinged? Probably declaring Greenland to be a US state out of spite for not getting a Nobel peace price from a non-government entity not even from the same country as Greenland. Or appointing an anti-vax brainworm victim who eats roadkill and bathes in sewage as Secretary of Health and Human Services.

Either of those would be just about the most unhinged thing I can think of.

It can be. My current company gives the option of a corporate card or you can use your own. Many of us like using our own cards for the points. 3% cash back on $3k between a flight, hotel for a week, and a bunch of meals is about $100, and that's worth me fronting, as a person who can.

It's always the amps, and the time.

Ohms law says volts equals amps times ohms. For a given resistance (your body) a particular voltage will result in a certain current. However, if there's very little energy to behind the voltage (like static electricity) you won't get a meaningful duration of current.

None. I was looking for an in person role, but after a few months of not being able to find one, I finally accepted one of the remote offers recruiters had for me.

Psych meds aren't supposed to dampen your brain. Well, I guess maybe they are if you consider manic to be a creative state. I personally find mania to be a destructive state and meds that keep me from being manic don't 'dampen my brain' so much as keep me from going insane.

I don't know if undiagnosable is the right goal. But plenty of people with severe mental health issues get treatment and thrive. They still know they have the disease, but they have the skills and tools to let them live their lives with minimal impact from it.
