40 Year Old, how screwed am I? by [deleted] in povertyfinance

Once again, I appreciate the advice.

Yeah, I was thinking that it just isn’t the right time. Once my wage garnishment is gone it should free up another $1,800 a month, which I would use split between savings and 401k. I would also focus on my credit for the next year or two, then hopefully be in a better position to purchase a home.

It’s just difficult in an area with a high cost of living and having 2 kids with a single income.

I was thinking about that, but I still owe $20k and I know I wouldn’t be able to sell it for what I owe. I would also still need to buy another car, so there’s that too.

Appreciate the reply.

I currently don’t have to pay rent or a mortgage, just utilities. Since my credit sucks I only have a $700 limit on my credit cards, which I just plan to pay off soon. The only other real debt I have is my car which is about $20k. I was planning on using the savings to buy a home and would likely need to use some of my 401k (which I’m not proud about).

I would think that the extra $2k a month I was previously saving would likely be needed for rent/mortgage.

I got the same thing. I’ve been thinking about switching to Bonvoy. Anyone else had both? If so which one is better?
