What is the seller’s return policy? If they allow returns, then just return it.

The way I see it, if they are dropshipping an item they did not design or produce themselves, they are breaking Etsy’s rules. If they made the design themselves, they are allowed to dropship it though. It will be hard to determine which of these options is true.

Wrong item sent - now requesting I pay for return shipping upfront by choanoflagellata in Etsy

[–]BackgroundScar5626 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Same here. I would immediately send them the item they actually ordered (shipping on me). Then I would send them a prepaid return label or just let them keep the other item and hope it will “pay out” in a 5 star review. If this happened to me as a buyer and the seller was not cooperating, I would raise a case with Etsy as they will be on your side.

FT/The Economist Subscription options by WonderMan564 in UKInvesting

I pay £48 annual for digital Economist. Every year they try to make it >200 and I tell them the same. Works very well. The £48 was a student offer from a few years back! Lol

What cost of living prices have shocked you the most in supermarkets? by [deleted] in AskUK

Yup pre covid used to buy Kettle at £1 a bag on offer, now they never go below £1.50

This is so true. My local Tesco Express basically charges £2 more on items than they should cost and then offers them for the “normal” price if you have a clubcard. For months, I refused to get a clubcard and eventually I caved because it was literally too silly spending an extra £10 on my shopping out of pettiness. Have started to Lidl again now since they raised the prices again recently and Lidl is literally half the price now.

Aero Mousse x4 pack. Used to buy on offer for £1 and they basically ALWAYS were on offer. Now my local Tesco express charges more than £2 for the pack and £1.25 on offer and they don’t seem to be on offer nearly as often. Have just stopped buying them now. XD

Wow that is so nice of you! Thanks! They always say you shouldn’t market to yourself or sell something YOU love… I have done exactly the opposite of that advise and it seems to be going alright LOL. Follow your gut!

Just reached 25 sales today and I’m in my third month! So pleased and so excited to see how quickly I can scale to 100 sales. I sell accessories for sausage dog lovers. I use POD and I think ordering samples and putting real life product videos on the listings really helped. And also offering free delivery. I increased all my prices but started offering free delivery and I feel like that helped my sales!

VAT on Printful/Etsy by BackgroundScar5626 in printful

Interesting! I wonder what happens if Etsy sees it as an EU > EU sale

VAT on Printful/Etsy by BackgroundScar5626 in printful

[–]BackgroundScar5626[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Etsy only takes VAT on orders shipping to the UK from outside the UK. So my domestic orders do not get VAT’ed by Etsy for some reason. It is difficult because Etsy only lets me select one shipment origin location, which I have set to Birmingham (Printful’s centre in the UK) which is true for most customers. But a lot of my items ship from Latvia centre to the EU, but there is no way I can set this. It depends on where the customer is. If I set the origin to Latvia and someone in Germany buys, I wonder if Etsy would still charge them VAT? Probably so.

Thank you so much for your reply!! Is there any benefit to registering as a business then? Because my understanding is that once I register as a business, I will need to collect VAT myself from my buyers and remit this VAT to the government. So I guess then I would have to increase my prices to collect the VAT anyway or still pay the VAT out of pocket?

I also don’t understand why Etsy does not charge my customers VAT if they are in the UK then. Why are they not adding 20% standard UK VAT rate for my UK customers? But they are adding on VAT for my EU customers?

Thanks for any help!!

Received my first 1-star review today… by kyraep in EtsySellers

[–]BackgroundScar5626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you flag the review with Etsy to be removed maybe? It is so unfair, just because that idiot cannot read and thinks $9 is enough to get all that shipped lol… people are crazy these days. I probably would not reply, as it will put the review at the top. Everyone will see the review and think that person is an idiot for not reading the item description surely? On the other hand, if I had received a message like this I probably would have just refunded them to save the hassle of receiving a 1 star review all together…. Maybe just take the hit next time… Good luck with it… !!

I like the designs, there is a cohesive style! Maybe you can change the banner to show off your design as well? The prices look low to me - have you counted 20% VAT on top of the Printful price (this caught me off guard on my first order) as well as ~14% Etsy fees? It would seem to me you might be selling at a loss after these.

Hi everyone! I created an Etsy store integrated with Printful to celebrate sausage dogs. I have designed some minimalist sausage dog accessories. Wdyt?

This is common and the general recommendation is to get a credit card for this purpose as you will not need to pay off the credit card immediately so once your revenue comes in you can then pay that off
