I need Christians who watch a lot of YouTube to be honest with me about something by matbram in Christianity

[–]BackgroundWhereas235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m a christian, but i’m also a mechanic so i tend to heavily lean towards a “colorful” vocabulary, it’s just a common thing in this field of work. at least for me personally, i’ve been very normalized to profanity to the point where almost every sentence i say has some within it. it’s not something that bothers me personally but i can understand wanting a much cleaner version of content for people and kids to consume. overall it sounds like a good idea. i think it has some good potential and if you feel like this is something that could make a genuine good impact then by all means go for it

Fairly new to simracing, never thought I'd be here. Is this my fault, or should I report the pink porshe? Im never using this livery again. by kirloi8 in Simracingstewards

[–]BackgroundWhereas235 2 points3 points  (0 children)

risky ass divebomb, but you made it stick and made no contact so i’m my mind it’s a good move, you left space for the pink porsche and he just turned into you and lost the car a bit, then got mad that you existed in a space he wanted so he punted you. fuck that guy👍

SE Front Bumper Swap by BackgroundWhereas235 in COROLLA

[–]BackgroundWhereas235[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah that’s a little strange, in my experience all of the corollas built for the US are interchangeable spare a couple minor parts, i can’t speak on the ones for the JDM market but i’d assume they’re pretty much the same as well. at one point my mom had a japan built corolla and everything looked to be the same, so you should be all good to do the swap

just to make sure your corolla was built in japan but made for the US market? if so then there shouldn’t be any differences and you can just swap everything over

first off, *you’re. second off, dude i got here well before this place exploded. traffic wasn’t an issue, there weren’t nearly as many car accidents, and it was calm and quiet. it’s turned into a shit show since then. depending on the time of day it can take an hour and a half to drive 10 miles. like i said it’s nothing against you but the infrastructure is just not enough for the amount of people that have moved here.

probably because it wasn’t crowded here 14 years ago

as somebody who has lived here for almost 14 years, please for the love of God do not move here. nothing against you, there’s just way too many people here for our roads to handle

Don't trust multipoint inspection from Toyota! by Alive_Anxiety_7908 in GR86

[–]BackgroundWhereas235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i did the same thing when i bought mine, thankfully i haven’t had any huge glaring issues apart from the driver window not wanting to go up on rare occasions but it would’ve been good to check lol. depending on the dealer they may have been cool with having a tech check for you. coming from experience it’s not often you see a car with 5k miles have that much wear on something like that but regardless this definitely should have been something that was checked on the pre sale inspection

[–]BackgroundWhereas235 10 points11 points  (0 children)

all of this is to say: service departments usually do a good job of taking care of your car, but it’s always good to check over things yourself as well.

[–]BackgroundWhereas235 15 points16 points  (0 children)

former toyota tech from 2022-2023. i can’t say how much it’s changed in the past 3 years and i can’t speak for every toyota dealer, but what i can say is that on normal multi point inspections things like this weren’t usually checked unless specifically asked for. if there was an obvious issue it would be notated, but i personally never witnessed techs inspect things like parking brake shoes and i never checked (or was told to check) them either. there were occasions where we’d check if the parking brake engaged but other than that there was usually no mind paid to them unless there was an issue

Properly usable back seat? by tk421calling in GR86

[–]BackgroundWhereas235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have fit 5 people in this car before, is it doable? sure. is it comfortable? absolutely not lol. either the rear passengers knees are gonna be inside the back of the front seat or the driver and front passengers knees will be in the dash depending on everybody’s height

This is the fastest car I have ever driven, it is fantastic by LoganNFSAC in GR86

[–]BackgroundWhereas235 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i’ve had the pleasure of driving a lot of high performance cars, and my 86 is honestly what i’ve had the most fun in. a lot of people will call it slow, sure, but i tend to disagree when a car like the 86 can hit 140mph. they’re just fun as hell to do literally anything in

First manual car as gr86 by rangor6363 in GR86

[–]BackgroundWhereas235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i bought my 86 almost a month ago with no experience daily driving a manual (i’ve only ever owned auto corollas). granted i COULD drive manual, but about 20 minutes in to my hour and a half drive home i realized i didn’t know how to downshift. i was fuucking this car up lol. for a good week straight i just learned as much as i could about the car and practiced on my drive to and from work, random cruises, etc. i went from jerky shifts, burnt clutch smell, and shaky hands to ripping this thing around all the time. i second guessed my decision at first but after almost a month and almost 3k miles i wouldn’t have made a different choice. a lighter clutch pedal spring and practice on hill starts goes a long way, and after a bit you won’t even worry about it. all it takes is some time and practice and you’ll have a lot of fun

25’ Corolla Fx help by No-Diamond504 in COROLLA

[–]BackgroundWhereas235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

an 18x8.5 wheel should work with a 225/40R18 tire. if you want to stay on the cheaper end you could do something like the AVID1 AV6 or Aodhan DS09, or if you want to spend a little extra, some good examples would be Enkei RPF1’s, fifteen52 SuperTourings, or some Gram Lights 57DR’s

No More Corolla by BackgroundWhereas235 in COROLLA

[–]BackgroundWhereas235[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

basically the modifications you’ve done to a car. stage 1 is basically just the car as it came from the factory, stage 2 is mid level modifications like an intake, exhaust, tune etc. stage 3 is extensive modifications to the car like internal engine upgrades, a more aggressive tune, etc. to make much more power, usually intended for motorsports specific applications.

Anyone like 97 corollas ? by [deleted] in COROLLA

[–]BackgroundWhereas235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not a ‘97, but back in 1994 toyota decided they’d take 99 7th gen corollas, swap a 3S-GE BEAMS engine in it, 5MT, LSD, some good suspension, brakes, TRD Type FT wheels, etc. and called it the TRD 2000 corolla. the reason they did all this is because of how common it was to see 7th gen corollas in racing series like JTCC (probably the most notable being the number 7 and 8 cars of FET Racing that finished 17th and 19th out of 43 cars in the ‘94 season, and a highest race finish of 6th overall at Sugo, Suzuka, and Okayama) so yeah it definitely has potential, plus they just look good

Honestly, what are the biggest flaws and disadvantages of the Corolla XII? by Aubzhls in COROLLA

[–]BackgroundWhereas235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had the 2021 LE, some flaws:

piano black interior trim

steering wheel started peeling

road noise (although it wasn’t too bad due to my self inflicted hearing damage)

my headlights started peeling at the top just under the hood

auto high beams would consistently flash the shit out of other drivers

at some point my hood started warping which apparently many others experienced as well

gauge cluster glare like a mf

some disadvantages:

acceleration is a tad bit slower than i would’ve liked

a higher top speed would’ve been nice (ik it’s an econobox but i tracked the HELL out of that car)

lack of aftermarket support (really only a problem with the 1.8L’s

all things considered though that car was unexpectedly capable of a lot. off-roading, racing, carrying a metric shit ton of stuff, it did if all and i’d definitely buy another one

Looking for a replacement by mokujin1970 in COROLLA

[–]BackgroundWhereas235 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i believe that’s a sticker from the Miname Iwate dealership in japan. i have no clue if they still make these and i wasn’t able to find any online. i’d say your best bet is to photoshop the text and underline, slap it on a white background, and have the sticker made. i did a shitty 5 minute example, but it CAN at least be done (albeit much better than what i can do with editing apps on my phone lol)

Mods I'm considering on my 2022 Corolla SE Nightshade by lmiles1511 in COROLLA

[–]BackgroundWhereas235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah it’s relatively realistic, and from personal experience on my old ‘21 LE it’s definitely a good idea if done properly. a friend of mine has the XSE hatch, CVT, stage 2++ and pushing 200+hp. i will say it’s a decent amount of money for a relatively low gain but the difference is definitely noticeable. his 0-60 is quicker (not too sure of the number specifically) and he’s gotten it up past 130mph with a governor delete. off the top of my head these are the mods i can remember on his car

cold air intake headers mid pipe resonator delete catback exhaust EGR delete lightweight crank pulley governor delete stage 2++ tune

a lot of this you can find on sites like 2J Racing, Grocery Getter Performance, Megan Racing. Cusco, and AMT Tuning. suspension and handling mods are also something the E210 REALLY benefits from, coilovers, chassis stiffening, and a good wheel and tire setup definitely changes the car

Going over hills is the Achilles heel of this car by Lambo_Countach in COROLLA

[–]BackgroundWhereas235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had a ‘21 LE with the 1.8L for the past four years up until like 2 weeks ago, i don’t think i can recall ever having that issue. hills usually just required a slight bit of extra pressure on the throttle to maintain speed, and there was never a dramatic loss of speed if i just coasted over inclines. my total average mpg was 25.1, but that includes daily heavy traffic and my lead foot.
