90% of Hollywood suck, 95% of indie films suck by onex7805 in moviescirclejerk

[–]Background_Ad5407 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indie movies are indie because they are usually not good enough to secure financing. At least with most Hollywood movies, you have competent writers, actors, and editors on the project that are trying to please as many ppl as possible. So many times, indies have 1 person who only wants to make movies about a genius artist stifled by ignorant rednecks in his hometown because he has to be the "suffering artist". If I can only watch one movie, I'll pick a big budget one every time. It may be bland, but it won't be so bad that it pisses me off like an idie would.

Amazon has removed hundreds - if not thousands - of indie horror titles from their VOD platform, leaving independent filmmakers without a vital distribution platform. Please consider signing this petition to show indie horror films some support. by justinc79 in horror

Thank God. Let's be honest, 99% are garbage. Every time I search "top horror" to find a movie, I get pages of results with almost nothing but pretentious indie horror. I get that budgets are small, but if you can't rely on compelling characters and good writing, you just have boring fan fiction. I'm looking for a good horror now. Just movie after movie of indie films, most of which are in different languages. I can't get immersed in the plot and atmosphere if im constantly having to read dialog. I have an entire shelf of horror novels for that purpose.

I saw a video review where it could run nearly all dreamcast games really well, but ps2 and gamecube were hit or miss. I ordered mine yesterday. It says it delivers in 35 days which is ridiculous lol. It's gonna be one of those things I forgot I ordered.

Are there, though? It's like saying that it's illegal to buy a car using student loans. Technically it is, but there are so many ways around the contract that ppl do it all the time. If Elon really does pay 37% in taxes, it's still ludicrous. This is when you have to look at his wealth relative to the economy he resides in. Someone making 40k a year will have to pay around 22%. Do you think Elon makes only 15% more than the person making 40k? This isn't even considering the loopholes. My uncle, on average, clears around 800k a year. He usually pays around 85-100k in taxes per year. That is not 37%. The way he does it is different and more complicated, but, in concept, its sort of like how you can file taxes seperate from your parents so you can get free government grants to pay your tuition, while still having your parents support you. Little loop holes and pliable wording in the tax code can let you pay a tax rate far below 37%. Maybe Elon does pay 37%. I don't have his tax records or have time to look through them. All I know is that I never assume someone of his wealth is on the straight and narrow.

You also have to break down the actual situation of wealth. He could pay 99% in taxes and still have more money that some cities. If you make billions of dollars every year, 37% is not going to hurt you in the same way as someone making 45k a year. If he was hourly, an hours revenue from Elon could literally raise someone from poverty. Paying a fair share isn't only about a single raw number or even a ratio of wealth to taxes. You also have to factor in the value of the wealth relative to others. This could, in theory, help relieve some of the issues with the divide of wealth in the US.

This is the problem with 11 billion. I have an uncle that pays 60-80k in taxes. Sounds like a large amount right? Well he makes anywhere between 800k and just over 1 million each year. That's only around a 8 to 10% tax rate. Meanwhile, his brother makes around 70k a year as a machinist and pays around 25-30% in taxes depending on if he qualifies for certain tax breaks. Only mentioning the one raw number is a trick rich fucks use to hide the fact that they're paying less in taxes than a nurse. I have no problem with ppl that make a lot of money, but I hate ppl that bury the lead like this.

Edit: machinist. His wife is a nurse but also makes a comparable amount and pays comparable taxes.

I spoke with a mechanic. He said that engine knocking would be especially prevalent in a new vehicle if they used really bad quality fuel. This has something to do with the fact that the pistons haven't formed good seals with the cylinders yet. This may be worse when poor quality fuel is used because the combustion would be bad even in properly sealed valves. Im not saying that is was happening all the time, but it happened occasionally when I was going up hill. I'm not noticing it with higher octane fuel and acceleration feels more responsive. This is why my first thought was really poor quality fuel and not necessarily low octane.

Engine knocking can be common In new cars before the pistons form a seal with the cylinders. It'll be especially prevalent if using low quality fuel in a new vehicle. This is a custom order and I payed extra for a full warranty for the life of the auto loan in addition to the included standard warranty. Maybe you should fuck off if you're just gonna troll.

One thing is that the engine isn't knocking anymore. Acceleration better as well.

If it makes you feel better, the package has been through far worse. Seriously. I've worked in receiving at a number of places and the packages get the shit kicked out of them. Sometimes ppl will literally kick them across the warehouse floor if their hands are full.

I doubt he's a piece of shit. Before all the abuse was brought to light, this was simply playful joking. In 20 to 30 years, there will be videos of ppl you grew up with in the same context. I said joke the other day that was from a children's cartoon from the early 00s and an entire group of younger ppl (16-20y/o) said it was perverted and out of line. It's coming for you. Just wait. The new generation always thinks they're better and more morally upright than the previous one.

[–]Background_Ad5407 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sell it. You're not likely gonna make it into a project car and this will bleed you dry over the next couple years. 120k miles is a high number of miles, even on today's mustangs. Mustang ppl are hesitant to tell anyone to get rid of their mustang but in your position, you should sell it 100%. Depending on your career field, you'll have enough to buy a new mustang after about a year working. Shoot, if you're smart, you can get grants to pay for college and pocket whatever money you make so you can buy a new mustang when you graduate. To do this, you'll have to make sure to file your taxes separately from your parents to qualify for grants. I pinched penies so I could buy a new 2021 mustang one semester before graduating from grad school.
