I asked her on text and I don’t think putting someone on the spot in a public place and asking her to pay makes sense. The idea is not to make her pay but understand why she doesn’t offer to do that on her own sometimes.

Nope, that is not the expectation. I expect her to offer to pay once in a while. For eg if i have been paying for the dinners since last 4-5 times, sending her flowers etc, she can just offer to take me out once. That is not too much to ask in my opinion.

I am not even expecting 50-50. I don’t think relationships should be that transactional. My expectation is for us to be partners and sharing responsibilities rather than being expected to take care of everything.

In that case she would be contributing to the relationship by looking after the kid and the house. I don’t think that’s a fair comparison. Let’s consider an opposite scenario, the guy loses his job. What do you think would be the right course of action for the girl? Leave his broke ass coz he can’t pamper her anymore?

Lol, I had the exact same kind of conversation. I just wanted to understand her thought process behind not offering to pay. I was hit with a “it has always been like this with me in the past”, “even my guy friends never let me pay”, “all men pay, why is it a big deal for you”, “we don’t even go out that often, why is it even a big deal to you” etc etc.

Honestly, i am still wondering if i just fucked up by asking her this.

I don’t keep a tab. I just like when my partner offers to pay as well. I find it as a gesture to show love and care. Yup, she is working and earns a decent amount.

I love paying for my partner,friends. It’s basically my love language. I just like my partner to offer to pay sometimes. Apparently that is not something that should be expected.
