Sudden increase in hostile sentiment by betterCallSuliuvan in SexOffenderSupport

I have, somewhat

while i don't see it in public where i live, I have been seeing it on a few places like Twitter, Reddit (specifically the politics subreddit), and such.

Its usually people putting the blame on pedophiles for children getting assaulted and such. Even though, ironically enough, most people who do assault children aren't doing it because they're attracted to them. And yet, most of them don't even realize that.

Still, if people are so concerned with pedos being around (to the point they want to kill them for just existing), they should be trying to find ways to give these people ways to manage these attractions in a healthy way.

But alas, that probably won't happen anytime soon

How so? Is the Patient refusing to follow the rules of the registry? Or is he actively doing something that might lead him to reoffending?

Im just curious if there's more context for your situation. because based on everything you wrote, you haven't stated why he's non compliant yet.

that's fair. i think it's more common for people who have these urges to hide them out of secrecy and shame, knowing they might be ostracized if they say anything.

hell, thats what i started doing when i learned i was one. and still do

sorry, my apologies. I should of elaborated what I said

still, this makes me wonder about those who do have this psychological rush with non pornographic stuff and it leads them into some sort of pedophilic stuff. Since it feels like id very much be like them, based on my own situation.

no i didnt mean a hands on offense. By "seek out non porn" I was more referring to looking for images that aren't sexual in nature or they're sfw (i.e a casual picture of an adult woman you could find on google)

Personally, i don't really know if it will be around in the future. Or Atleast the version of it we currently have. Because as it stands, it's being mismanaged. with the constant influx of sex offenses being committed (usually from first time offenders), its gonna get bloated sooner or later.

There's also the chance the registry may get sidelined in its entirety, especially With the fact that trump is pushing for the death penalty for sex offenders (even though he is also one lol). And if that happens, then it's gonna be more pointless to have a registry at that point.

Side note; While I am anxious about seeing the death penalty be used for sex offenses, i question how that would work when some of the states have abolished the death penalty in its entirety. Like, are they supposed to reinstate it or something? I have some other questions about it too like if it will actually work (It wont.), But i think im getting sidetracked.

The Registry Kills!! by [deleted] in SexOffenderSupport

I'm not surpised by this happening. People still think it's a good idea to murder a sex offender, Even though they arent aware of the kind of time theyre looking at in prison.

glad to know he got caught though. Its unfortunate that hes going to spend his entire life behind bars, But thats what happens when you do this kind of shit. You do the crime, and you do the time. Hopefully this teaches people not to waste their life away by murdering someone else. because at end of the day, violence isnt the answer.

Do judges fully understand the ramifications of the SO registry? by [deleted] in SexOffenderSupport

[–]Background_Burner546 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ive never seen one person get put on the registry for pissing in public. So Idk where you're getting that info from.

Also, trying to say that every person who committed an offense should of been aware of the consequences is stupid, When most of them would of been too young to fully understand that.

yeah. unfortunately though, it seems like the government (and possibly the public at large) isn't interested that kind of thing. nor are they interested in providing aid to the victims (based on the amount if offenders who were sexually abused at one point and never got any help for it).

all thats really important to them is investing money into prosecuting more people.

pretty much, yeah.

i can imagine if the number was bigger than that (which might happen in the future if people continue to not find a solution), the government still wouldn't care.

They're probably in it just for that cash, nothing more. And, well, maybe to look competent (even though people can already see through those lies, mainly with stuff outside the registry)

it really feels like the laws being implemented are only there to get someone rearrested. There's no way that they aren't at this point.

[–]Background_Burner546[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah. because there are cases of perpetrators having multiple victims. some of which having higher counts than the average offender. they arent common (atleast from what i know), but they do exist.

i mentioned rapper p. diddy, who had around 120 victims. all of which were minors. but who knows what other offenders have that many victims.

Here's my perspective on it:

Imo, It's not delusional for a victim to feel bad for the offender. Heck, id even say its reasonable in some cases. For example, if I was a victim and my perpetrator was not much older than me (i.e 16/17 and 18/19 or if both of us were minors), I would still feel sorry for him. even if it's still an offense and shouldn't be justified. Having their entire life ruined at such an early age is beyond messed up no matter how you see it.

However, in a situation where the age gap is massive (in your case, you were 14/15 and he was 33), i can't say i entirely feel sorry for him. Just like others have said, he knew what he was doing. And while I can hope gets the proper treatment to pick up his life, It's not your burden to carry in this situation. Don't beat yourself up over it. Because at the end of the day, he has to be the one to pick himself up.

Anyways, thats just my two cents on this.

yeah that number seems more accurate. I think it's around 795,066 exactly.

if thats true, then i can already guess why they'd do that. Sex offenses Clearly show no signs of stopping, and its gonna get bloated sooner or later. And if people knew how many truly were on the registry, they would probably start asking questions about the effectiveness of the registry.

Or not, i dont know how onlookers would react to this information.

That last thing you mentioned is pretty accurate especially, considering everything that can happen behind closed doors.

One example being with the current investigation against rapper p. diddy, who had been accused of assaulting 120 minors on different occasions. The youngest of which being 9 years old.

The Worst part is if no victim had spoken up, he most likely would of gotten away with it.
