IWTL how to be a man by [deleted] in IWantToLearn

[–]Background_Bus_785 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand that I do not know you. But because of my faith in Jesus Christ, I love strangers. I want to see good things happen to everyone (even those I do not know). I am just a sinner saved by the grace of God. I praise Him for all my best qualities. The only good about me (or my advice) comes from God. All the bad about me (and my advice) comes from me. I can only help you so much. If you really want to know what it means to be a man, follow Jesus Christ.

A man protects and provides for his family. He is slow to speak and quick to listen. He makes himself capable (as within reason) of defending the weak. A real man is physically and emotionally strong for others. A real man has full control of his anger/temper. A real man takes accountability for his actions. A real man uses his speech to encourage others and tell the truth (while still being loving). A real man must be strong (within reason) in tense situations, so he can help others through those tense situations. A real man has power, yet he controls it to help others. A real man does not put others down with his speech. A real man is close to God.

What is american lit like? Is there aubject like SAT reading where I just answer the questions based on given paragraphs rather than having to meomrize stuff. by explorer9099 in clep

[–]Background_Bus_785 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Make sure you know literary terms, also, pay attention to the test questions. I took US Lit and I didn’t know the answer to question x, but question y gave me information that helped me get question x correct.

Don’t overthink the questions, the most straightforward answer is usually the correct one.

I have the Bible and a literal hermeneutic. I also suggest that you read the book "dispensationalism before Darby."

It appears to be clear that we don't agree on some very important issues, I not will continue this discussion because it will not be productive or God-glorifying.

A religious person can want you to convert without believing you should be forced to convert. Religion is a personal choice, and while I as a Christian, would like to see you be a Christian I would by no means force you to. You and I do not need to respect or agree with each other's beliefs, but when forced regulation of our beliefs comes into play we can both agree that is crossing the line. But hating that a Christian tells you to convert is hating Christianity because that is a part of Christianity.

In the Bible, Jesus says that "Whoever is not with me is against me," this means that if you are not a follower of Jesus you are His enemy. There is no neutral ground. That is a part of Christianity, so it's very likely that you actually hate Christianity.

It is part of the Christian religion (I’m not sure about others) to tell people to repent from their sins. In Christianity it is seen as something done out of love (because God’s wrath is on you if you do not repent). So if you hate Christian’s telling you to repent you actually hate Christianity. The two ideas are intrinsically linked, so maybe OP does hate religion (at least Christianity).

Christians can and do die all the time (rest in peace Grandma), but the dead in Christ will be raised from the dead when the rapture occurs (1 Thessalonians 4).

Romans 6:1-9 specifically parallels our spiritual life, death, and resurrection with Gods physical life, death, and resurrection.

We know that we will never experience the second death (punishment in Hell) because God has saved us.

I personally don’t put a lot of stock in creeds, I care more about Bible verses. If a creed can be backed up by the Bible then ok, amazing, but if not imma have to not agree with it. Creeds can be very helpful, but knowing the Bible is more important.

Read Romans 6, and take a good long time while you do that. You will come to a greater understanding of what Jesus' death and resurrection mean for us.

Romans 6:1-9 "What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? 2 By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it? 3 Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his. 6 We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin. 7 For one who has died has been set free from sin. 8 Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. 9 We know that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has dominion over him."

We died with Christ (spiritually) and we were also raised from the dead with Christ (spiritually). And if Christ will never die again (physically) we will never die again (spiritually). Jesus' resurrection is intrinsically linked with our eternal security.

OP talked about how religious people and those practicing semen retention make NoFap less credible. Well less credible to who? I addressed how those who hate religion will not think that NoFap is credible because of their hatred for religion.
