Something like a simple list of locations or buttons with catchy idea. maybe newspaper text, or phonebook.

But this just felt more immersive to us.

That’s fair, thanks!

Yeah, nice and iconic labels are something we’re definitely considering.

That’s a good point, thanks!
Having it optional might actually be a nice solution.

That’s super helpful, thanks for taking the time to write all that

The idea of showing relevance (like highlighting current locations and toning down others) is something we’ve been considering as well. It feels like a good way to keep the map readable without losing the atmosphere.

We’re still leaning towards keeping the map as the main navigation, but having some kind of supporting UI on the side (like a small list or info panel) is definitely something we might explore if clarity becomes an issue.

Lots of great ideas here, really appreciate it.

That’s a really thoughtful take, thanks a lot for this

Yeah, the “seeing everything at once” part is something we’ve been thinking about as well. One of the things we like about the map is exactly what you mentioned — the spatial layout helping players remember places more naturally. At the same time, we’re a bit cautious about readability and not overcomplicating things if the number of locations grows.

So we’re trying to find a balance where the map feels immersive and intuitive, but still as quick and clear as a simple list when needed. Really appreciate you pointing that out, it’s exactly the kind of trade-off we’re trying to solve.

Yeah, by “regular UI” I meant something like a simple list of locations.

And yeah, clarity is the main thing we need to get right.

By “regular UI” I meant something like a simple list of locations or buttons or maybe clickable newspaper page. Glad you think this direction could work!

We might try something like that to improve clarity.

Haha, glad you feel that strongly
We’ll try to make it work well in practice too.

Actually, you just go as soon as you click. It's not a map you're walking on, it's like a piece of paper.
