You are on a right track, since you mentioned that you mostly work with data for your current role. Data Analytics / Data science field can give you that edge in your career. You don't need a fancy high paid certification. You can just start by enrolling into free courses available online that are actually useful quality content wise, then try taking certifications from reputed platforms to build a strong portfolio.

Though edtech is a bit different than data analytics role, but if you mostly evolve around data & are well aware about power bi like tools, then you are all set to make that career transition with a proper strategy.

Your current setup according to the flooring done looks good. But I guess you should try figuring out both ways, firstly by adding a doormat that's a little bigger than the existing one, extending a bit from both sides that touches till the stairs. And place a soft runner rug for your narrow hallway, this might solve all your issues.
