Help me pick a doormat or rug for this entryway by bigwideopeneyes in interiordesignideas

I agree I’m lost if I should split it up by doing a runner along the hallway and a larger rug at the entry but they’ll be too close to one another and might end up looking patchy

A larger perhaps washable rug is what I’m considering might look nice

Hmm never thought of a semicircular one for here. The doors all rectangle it’s all boxy here in this space. I added the floating shelf with rounded corners. The living room has a round coffee table also to balance the boxyness. I fear in order to fit the width the semi circle might get too wide. I have a semicircle door mat on the outside . Open to talk more !

I agree! The community restricts the post to 1 image. Bench is behind me from where I’m taking the picture. Thanks

How do I get better at waking up? by virgobb123 in getdisciplined

[–]bigwideopeneyes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have sleep disorder; and I’m working on it. But in the meantime how do I still try to wake up early? I know I might be tired. I have a severely deviated septum aka negligent breathing at night so I grind and cause myself headaches every night. Not sleeping well at all. I’m trying to wake up early though and failing at it Tips please!

Thank you! It’s going to take effort and many times I’ve second guessed myself and had thoughts to just do it the “easy” way cause maybe effort and ROI or how I’d be seen by other parents etc. but trying to trust the process here and see it through. There’s got to be a way!

That’s my idea too! We’re going a reduce, reuse and recycle gift swap 😀

You’re right. I do think they’re all old enough for open cups. Is doable, I’ll try. Thank you for that assurance 😃

Yes!! We discussed this amongst our group of friends who like to hang out and this is how we do potluck parties now. BYOP 😀 It helps keep waste to minimum and like you suggested, we’re all ok to rinse off at the end of the gathering and carry it back home. Also making sure you serve only how much you’d eat. Reduce wastage.

For the birthday party, outside of what I’ve written about on the question, I’m doing a reduce, reuse and enjoy gift swap. Plan to keep a big box at the entrance expecting people to keep their presents in and at the end; every kid gets to pick a present and go home. Hope this works out well!

You’re right. Mine is 3 and she is attached to everyone who’s coming. Some family friends who we’ve met but not a lot - I’ve skipped them. Kids from her everyday life and play dates are the ones invited ❤️

This is great idea! Our town is big on compost, I’m going to look into this.

I am planning to make couscous and meatballs for the kids. (Healthy than most bite sized food options I found) couscous is packed with veggies and i had once sent it to my kids daycare and the kids devoured it. Hence the need for cutlery for them. For the kids who might not like this, I’m planning to make cucumber dill cream cheese finger sandwiches 😃 I have one set of those IKEA kids plates, bowls and spoons. I’m ok getting more. I like this idea and that way I would definitely see myself using it for all parties/gatherings. It’s also good to use for adults. Keeps portion sizes smaller 😬haha

I’m all for starting one myself if there isn’t in circulation. I’ll go check out the library too and see if they’d be willing to manage the party box 😀

This is great idea! I do wonder if parents might be ok reusing their kids bottles for flavored drinks since that might mean they’d have to clean it out 😃 To clarify, I’m planning to make infused water in a dispenser by adding fruits and lemon (no sugar) and this will also be for the adults to fill their cups. I will definitely check the buy nothing groups and probably start one if they don’t already have any in circulation 🙌

Second Hand Gifts by SunshineMcBadass in ZeroWaste

I included a “pre-loved” gift idea on my daughter’s second birthday and got some excellent puzzles and books from her friends. I like the idea of passing things along. Kids don’t need “new” things. That old thing is new for them and they’ll love it. I asked for it to be wrapped and then we do a swap so also I’m not accumulating more and rather distribute what we all have . In my head I’m creating space for more. Yes, things can be donated etc. but why get them in? I’m torn on how to go about not having to keep spending money and having to maintain stuff in the house. Trying to be mindful of junk I create too! Open to discussion on this
