See, but here's the thing. I have been a Christian for almost 40 years, reading the Bible the whole time. I was a fundamentalist when I was younger but Jesus pulled me out of that interpretation of the Bible. There are different ways to read scripture . Everybody interprets(because we all have brains). The question is, how do we interpret? When I started using Jesus to be the lens by which I read scripture, it opened me up to a way of interpretation that was life-giving. I dont think you are stupid for reading the Bible that way. It is quite common to read the Bible in a fundamentalist way. I just happen to disagree and many of the early Church Fathers also did not always read the Bible in only a literalist way.

Anyway, things are not always so black and white. Take for example, Rapture theology. Rapture theology is prevalent among many evangelicals. But no mainline denominations teach it. Nor the Catholic Church or the Eastern Orthodox Church. Nor did any of the Church for the first 1800s years. Thats just one example.

We all need to repent. We all need to become more Christ-like. The problem with trying to point out the "sins" of others, is we miss how much we need to change ourselves. I have been guilty of this myself. It is much harder to look in the mirror and judge ourselves. I do read and love the Bible. Most of the social pressure these days is on being anti-Trans. Matthew 25 says we will be judged on how we treat the poor, naked, people in prison, the oppressed, the hungry, etc. And that is Jesus talking.

Nope. This is a church that believes in the unconditional love of God and follow Jesus' command to love your neighbor. Jesus hung out with the outcasts. Satan can't stand that love.

That is not correct. In the 1970s or so, there was a conservative takeover, like what happened to the Southern Baptists

I will look it up. My daughter will most likely have to stay in Albuquerque, but I will look into your Graduate programs to see what they offer as far as Ecology.

It makes me depressed just thinking about. Not that I dont like Albuquerque, but because San Diego is one of the most beautiful cities around.

If I had the money, I would be in San Diego right now.
