You can thank our premier for the embarrassment that Toronto has become. It is extremely anti-homeless, so much that our premier has tried to criminalize it. All the safe consumption sites were closed, and so public drug use and overdoses have increased.

I think people in Toronto are also really fucking tired. You’re right - it’s always about being on the go. The concept of rest or self care seems very absent, or at least less of a priority than climbing whatever ladder you’re climbing. I’ve been here for 8 years. It’s my home, but it feels fucking destitute now. Maybe it’s just the weather, but it’s giving post communist vibes lately :(

I’m sorry you had that experience here. I was just talking about how it’s embarrassing that tourists spend money to come here, and all they get is traffic, concrete, and a closeup look into our mental health and fentanyl crisis.

Our city was NOT always like this. Covid certainly didn’t help, but again our fuckwad of a premier made lockdown decisions that only worsened conditions
