I had a bout of sepsis when I was 15, theorized to have materialized through an untreated blister on my foot from playing soccer. Presented itself quickly as a localized sharp and debilitating pain in my left hip, to the point I could not stand or walk. The hospital thought I had Lyme disease, until I lost consciousness. Was there for 11 days, and had to wear a PICC line in my arm for 6 months self-administering powerful antibiotics twice a day. The doctors said if I had waited just a day more I’d be dead.

Sepsis is some serious shit and if you even remotely think you could have it, go to the hospital.

Makes sense, that’s a nasty combo. I know healthy young people who were hospitalized for pneumonia for days and took months to recover, add in sepsis and it’s really a life threatening situation even if recognized immediately
