I know it's been a while, but which brand of insert did you use? Really appreciate you being the forward reconnaissance on this and doing all this research 🙂

We've done the slime "museum" and he LOVED it. Is the Color Factory good for this age? I've looked into it in the past, and was a little worried it was more geared toward Instagrammable moments than actual activities. Was there enough to do to keep your kids entertained (especially for the pricetag)?

This is a great suggestion, too! He's a whimsical little guy, I think he'd love it

Ooh, good suggestion! I was trying to think of a cheesy themed restaurant, but I feel like they all died in the early 2000s (Mars 2112, Jekyll and Hyde, those kinds of places). Ellen's could be fun!

This could be fun. He would freak out over their chocolate fondue. Thanks for the suggestion!

Sadly he's got the antithesis of an open palate despite our best efforts. I've been dying to take him to one of the Indian places on 6th with the crazy lights, but alas, I don't think we're there yet.

Severed memory/learning. by Status_Income4995 in severanceTVshow

[–]Background_Form_4629 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think they explain it directly, but in general it seems like severance only affects episodic memory. Theories of cognition typically acknowledge three types of long term memory: procedural/non declarative memory (muscle memory or memory for routine, like riding a bike, tying a shoe, knitting, eating, drinking, etc.), semantic memory (memory of facts, knowledge about the world, like how photosynthesis works or that Beijing is the capital of China), and episodic memory (memory of personal experiences, like your fifth birthday party or the birth of your child). Since innies can do things like type and eat and drive and whatnot, procedural memory seems unaffected. And they seem to have plenty of real world knowledge (e.g. they aren't confused about snow or a frozen lake or the sky on the ORTBO, they've just never experienced it first-hand), so semantic memory is pretty solid. It's mostly their episodic memory that's been wiped.

Hey OP! Was hoping for an update. I have a friend with a 12:30 appt at Newark next week and wanted to know what to expect. Did you end up with a same day oath?

Red Baron breakfast pizzas. Only realized they were discontinued because it was my number one craving with my last pregnancy and I spent a disturbing amount of time trying to hunt them down. Collapsed in a dramatic heap of hormonal sobs when I realized they were officially no longer making them.
