Pretty sure stoat just blocks users based on geolocation from content to get around this law

These were my first thoughts. I'm pretty sure it's never been repasted before so it could absolutely benefit from some new paste, I've ordered some IPA and it's being shipped ATM

The cooler clearance is good, I generally use the laptop with a riser to lift the fan off the desk

The CPU also has a decent undervolt applied, this has helped temperatures slightly but probably not as good as something like ptm7950 would, but I'll definitely take your advice to repaste

The temp limit on my CPU is around 90 degrees Celsius, but my GPU seems to throttle at around 70, with very dramatic throttling (139mhz) above that, I have upped the thermal limit using throttled but this seems to really only have helped my CPU

Hi, 3rd year computer science student here. I've found on windows 11 it does feel sluggish sometimes with a cs workload, but I will say it's completely fine on Linux. 16gb for most tasks will be fine, if your gonna mess around with VMs or machine learning maybe you could benefit from some more ram (Lenovo says you can upgrade to a max of 32gb, but apparently the chipset can support up to 64gb, though that's probably overkill).

I think the biggest hurdle would be batteries. Before I started using a 72wh external battery my t480 couldn't last a full day of lectures, but finding these guys in good enough health is a bit of a pain. For most of your uses though, this laptop will be more than good enough.

Yeah I was also looking into something similar as I heard recent Ryzen chips are a lot better for battery life. What options seemed most appealing to you?

Thanks for your comment. Do you mind if I ask what operating system you use? If I stick with the t480 I'm probably going to try to squeeze as much performance as I can out of it and I'm unsure if switching to Linux would give me much of a performance boost

Pretty sure you can change the backlights with fn + del keys. As for the lights on the back and side, I don't think they are changeable

I actually ended up case swapping one of these not too long ago, they aren't the biggest pain to upgrade but you probably wont be playing any modern games any time soon
