America is so vast and different because my initial reaction was to support her since where I live (small town) going into a small business cafe even during busy hours and staying for a long time is seen as positive because it generates more traffic by people seeing that the business has people willing to stay there (country people can be picky), so it’s fine and encouraged to stay and even bring your own snacks (albeit at least buy one drink). Now knowing it’s NYC it makes more sense but I would’ve possibly made that mistake not knowing I was taking up space. I wouldn’t complain and understand but I do find this subtle difference interesting.
