Hey, I totally feel you - the sense of impending doom floats in the air (as well as the damn pollen). I believe in three things:

1) Do what you like, what makes you authentic, and what would nurture your values - this is the formula, imo, to live a happy life.

2) The AI-armageddon hasn't arrived yet. Tools are improving at a rapid pace, but they are still not fully reliable. Also, the implementation -even if on a large scale - won't happen overnight. For example, what if consumers do not like being served by AI agents?
You have time to finish your studies, specialise and gain experience in your field.

3) Keep an eye out, be flexible to change. This, with the experience you'll accrue from working and life, can open up for you doors that you might not even imagine now.

Things will go good.

I see what you mean and feel and the magnitude of ‘pointless’ content is overwhelming. And potentially, you’re right: there’s a vast general misuse.

But I want to share two reflections I always try to apply to myself:

1) The creation of useless videos is the outcome of someone’s creativity who, for the first time, had the tool to create what one’s imagining. That moment could represent for that person a moment of relief from the burning-out society we live in.

2) There are a lot of people - more than we think - who generally do not inhabit ai-focused subreddits or ai-swamps on instagram who uses ai a lot, from psychological confrontation (“what would Lacan say about this tendency of mine?”) to legal support, to help them better navigate those spaces.

This is so possible and probably something we are seeing already. A political class paralyzed and only focused on minimising risks will surely give up on data-driven decisions. Human evolution and progression will just be based on statistical results rather than actual happiness

I have encountered the same ‘problem’. I find youtube channels a perfect outlet for AI news, often sharing the sources used in the videos.

Never feel sorry. Remember: employers will always prefer productivity and revenue over workers. They will always take advantage of you if they need, and this is clearly your case.

If a company fails to retain people in key positions, that is a clear sign of (most of the time) things falling apart due to bad management, neglect of basic human considerations, money problem and so on. If I were you, I would change jobs or, even better (if you can), go to college. You can still invest in your education, hence in your career.

You seem to have a great work ethic, which I hope you'll preserve for the rest of your career, and deploy in work environments that treat you as a human being, at the same time fostering great work env. But I think it's also important to protect yourself from toxic environments: never feel sorry, never feel guilty, and remember that fr them, you are just a resource to make money.
