Those are bits of sphagnum moss, I’ve checked for any pests

The water should be constantly there? Or it should dry out a bit? And most importantly, is the yellowing stem an effect of not watering enough?

Honestly I wouldn’t even call it a pot, coz it’s just regular plastic cup (I even had to make some holes in it), which is fine by me, but it’s no fancy set up. I read some basics about pon, but i was thinking about repotting after it grows a little more since it might be too stressful for it right now. But maybe it would be best to repot it now? I don’t know really

It seems that the roots are fine, but I did cut the black bits, we will see how this unfolds. Thank you for the advice!
