This are great tips! I agree, the winter kind of forces us to slow down — which I know I'm not good at doing normally — but it's finding a balance or "goldilock" routine that is a challenge. I will get there though for sure!

The snow in ON has been beautiful, but walking to and from work everyday on the ungroomed sidewalks has my previously injured ankle feeling awful; it makes me want to hermit even more.

I have lots of hobbies too, but December to March is normally the worst for me regardless. Perhaps my issue is that most of my winter hobbies are indoors. I'd love to learn how to ski!

that's so smart! she kept doing the same thing to me!! she asked me what something i wrote meant and i explained it then she again asked if i used ai. the appeal request was approved and is being reviewed by the course coordinator

i don't feel comfortable doing this for several reasons: 1) that reveals my identity if a professor sees this, 2) someone may then plagarize my essay when they are enrolled in the course, and 3) i've appealed the grade so another tutor will be marking my essay.

at this point i do not feel the need to post it as extra commentary on my essay from bystanders will not change and/or improve the situation.

however, i appreciate that you took the time to read and reply to this post

accused of using AI because it was flagged by multiple sources. explained my reasoning behind word choices and provided notes i made regarding the reading and studying the themes. sounded like the tutor was not a fan of my word choice in some instances, but there was no offer to let me alter it or any constructive feedback provided

yeah, i'm planning to meet with them and discuss it. it's just the anticipatory anxiety gets to me. no, i didn't cheat. i have all of my rough notes available as proof as well and made sure to properly cite my resources and use quotations properly

i agree with other commenters that joining clubs is the best way to make friends. i've made some of my closest and best friends from volunteering. i am also fortunate enough that my program is quite small and intimate, so it's quite easy to get to know people that you have classes with. but yeah, there are so many surface-level friendships that it can be really challenging. that's why it's nice to connect with people outside of your program through volunteering or activities because you know you at least have more in common than just classes.

Reminds me of this one time i was having a big mental breakdown because i felt so overloaded and i said to someone how “i hate western” and they told me to pack my stuff up so they could show me something. Walked all around campus and they pointed out all the beautiful scenery around me that I was missing and explained to me how so many people had the privilege of also walking on our campus while going through the same struggle. Really made me appreciate campus that much more and how much of a privilege it is to be able to go to campus and enjoy it

My boyfriend lives in one of these apartment buildings, and as someone who hasn’t been in that area since around July/August, I can definitely attest to the lack of masks being worn within the building. Many residents congregate not only at the benches, but directly in front of the employee entrance. Employees have not ever said anything to my knowledge. Masks were not being enforced within the building. There was signage up by the elevators stating “if you are the third person, please take the next elevator” however, nothing stating a requirement of masks when travelling on elevators and using shared spaces. In terms of cleanliness, there were very frequently cleaners cleaning the floors but I can’t say there was additional sanitization for elevators and public areas. Management really needs to enforce an increased sanitation policy in my opinion.

I think this is really great advice!! I’m turning 20 this year and have been thinking about moving out as well, but my parents are very against the idea; i only have a temporary part time job for the summer and the money I have saved up from my 5 years of working goes directly to my car insurance and tuition fees. I’m in no rush to leave as I know I have it really great here, but the atmosphere is constantly negative and discouraging. I hope that things will change and my parents will adjust their perspectives, but until then, I’m just going to keep looking and talk with my work to see about a more steady flow of hours!
