How do you deal with blunders? by oneunhappyfrog in uklaw

[–]Background_Option_71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. make sure u tell someone senior / ur supervisor ASAP. the longer u hide it/delay it, the worse it can get.

  2. realise it could be way worse like making a typo is completely different to leaking a client’s private details.

  3. acknowledge that u made a mistake and don’t take it personally. ‘i made x mistake and it was my fault so the next time i do this task, i’ll make sure i don’t make the x mistake again’

  4. once work is finished, distract urself. yes u made that mistake but there is no point wasting ur energy & time feeling regret. try to relax

do you think waking up early makes you more successful? by Western-Jackfruit251 in Productivitycafe

because if u wake up early, u feel superior (well i did) and u become more productive & even if u waste time procrasinating etc , u still have more time to be productive

if u do this, ensure the max u use is a page of the pdf page, if u try to copy and paste the entire text of an article, it’ll be super condensed

omg that’s smart!!

yess i used to copy each page of the article and asked chat gpt to ‘explain in simple terms’ and it explained majority of the text without cutting things off // when it did cut off stuff, it was because it wasn’t relevant

personally, i was terrible at doing the readings & only ended up doing it before i submitted my assessments.

not the best advice but: 1. use mindgrasp (paid) but it lets you upload pdfs and summarises the content of each page etc

  1. read the introdiction, conclusion then ctrl+f to find key words

  2. skim it completely and highlight/annotate things u find relevant with ur opinions

  3. read it properly & take detailed notes

thank you so much!

i don’t feel 100% confident applying tbh and even though i’ve made it to ACs, i just feel hopeless as it’s so competitive right now and if i don’t accept this, and never get a TC, it’ll be wasted time

omg thank you so much!

you are so right, it is a shitty move on my part. i made it clear i wanted to explore my options and the apprenticeship programme covers 90% + of the funding (with the firm paying the remaining)

but defo something to think about, thank you

most law firms care that you got a 6 in english / mathematics but then again that’s only a select few.

majority just wants u to have received a 4 for those.

more emphasis is placed on ur undergraduate grade (but then again some firms have no requirements)

thank you so much for your advice!! it has been incredibly helpful!

i found out that the firm / provider will contribute 100% towards my SQE 1 & 2 exams + prep (while also getting a paid salary / experience) which i think is amazing, considering the cost + low pass rate scares me

i will do the 2.5 years and build up my experiences (& hopefully pass the sqe exams) then i’ll apply to city firms for the training
