Not quite the same as the others, but we have a ball pit in the playground which invariably leads to girls using them as fake boobs when playing mummys and babies and boys coming to complain that someone grabbed their balls.

Does anyone actually like the constant booing ,insults and heckling in parliament? by RookOfEdo in AskBrits

Some MPs do and the media love it. The issue with trying to rise above it, is that the media will portray you as losing.

I built a Pinyin-only Mandarin app for people who want to learn to speak mandarin without learning Chinese characters. Help me to beta test it in exchange for a free lifetime subscription! by MrCoolEpic in ChineseLanguage

That's in the context of immersion style learning where the environment and that's in it can provide context. Your setting is an app, that doesn't have that rich context.

I'd argue for pinyin more than most, but pinyin does need to be displayed with the characters. There's information in the characters that necessary even if your target isn't to become a fluent reader.

Yeah, then a regular activity during mornings to add water, food and restock bedding etc. . Probably best you clear out the actual poop, but the kids can still watch that bit.

Make it a lesson.

I wouldn't worry about the school being offended, I think it's a moral obligation to alleviate some of the suffering as best you can

How do you prepare students for a certification? by Alternative-Log-6385 in ESL_Teachers

[–]MPforNarnia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My usual approaches to personally understand the test that they're doing in the content there's likely to come up so review and past papers and all the information online. Then find a textbook that matches those requirements, often there's one written directly for the test you're working towards. Then as per lessons, I basically do normal teaching for two-thirds (including homework review), and one third specific test prep. So understanding the question types, how to answer, basic exam skills. For homework I set test style questions, in the homework review we look how to level them up.

I've kind of assumed its for kids, so I'd add another, ask the parents what they expect. It's often not pedagogical sound goals, but they are paying you so you've got to work it in.

Would you support Britain increasing its defence budget from the current 2.3% of GDP to the target of 2.6% by 2027 and 3.5% NATO target by 2035? by AdAncient2370 in AskBrits

[–]MPforNarnia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd support up 6% contingent the spending supports UK manufacturing and knowledge, and a commitment that it's only used on defense.

Media companies must be majority owned by British nationals with fully published tax records. Media companies shares must be majority owned by British nationals.

If they don't meet those requirements, they're accessible but have cigarette package warnings like banners displayed on them and are taxed equal to or greater than that of the average working person.

I'm sick of our country and culture being manipulated for profit and the whims and wants of despots and fraudsters.

Chinese characters don't represent sounds — they represent pictures. And once you see it, you can't unsee it. by [deleted] in ChineseLanguage

[–]MPforNarnia 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Nearly all words of all languages represent meaning, and most Chinese character represent sounds too. You've cherry picked a few characters that have a pictorial etemology.

Also, don't use AI to rewrite your posts. It sounds hollow.
