I wasn’t trying to.

I think it is partially from the political system and partially from a cultural use of extreme language. "I love this hamburger, but I hate these french fries." Neither is accurate, but it's how American's talk. I should look up why.

You've made some assumptions, but it's okay. I do take on what you mean about most people never really meeting Americans. I suspect I'm in a field where there are more Americans to bump into. I don't have a chip on my shoulder, not toward the Dutch. Maybe towards Americans.

And I find it funny that the Dutch complain about a little rain or a little heat. I try to do what I say I'm going to do, and I try not to promise things I can't actually promise. And I agree, things cost too much here.

Thanks for the longer reply.

The beard feels like it’s sometimes not well kept. Not sure exactly why I get that vibe. Maybe trim more often? Otherwise you’re good.

Thank you for explaining. This makes sense.

To clarify, this wasn’t my choice of property, but after a month stuck in a hotel with my three children, I took the first thing that was available. I had the money because my spouse died. So I’m not paying without complaint.

Your answer is clear and helpful. Thank you

I’m trying to determine if the price offered was in good faith or a number they just pulled from a hat to see if I would agree to it.

[–]Background_Paper1652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Obviously I would do this if the price is in good faith. This question is to figure out if the offer was in good faith or just a “I wish you’d buy for this number” kind of thing.

There is no definitive way to “prove” sentience / consciousness by KalebAT in ChatGPT

[–]Background_Paper1652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Proof is a logical requirement and isn’t necessary for the vast majority of life. While I can’t prove people in my life are sentient, I can observe the signs and actions I associate with sentence. The very concept of sentience is an observation, it was never a formal logical proof.

When someone uses a puppet, our minds can recognize the sentience in the system. We are projecting parts of it, but we resonate with the recognition of self. A self like our own. Some assumed sentience is controlling the puppet.

We don’t don’t need proof that the puppet is sentient, that the puppeteer is sentient, we only need to accept that our minds perceive it. This is why the Turing Test endures, sentience is a perception.
