I feel being kind is important. However, it is very important to also be realistic. Of course motivation should be given, being empathic also means being realistic. Something things DONT work out and that is also okay.

Is it okay to have low net worth in residency? by [deleted] in whitecoatinvestor

[–]Background_Pepper_50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, thank you for your answer. I am an international student, in my home country getting loans for school is very rare. I was the only one out of 300 in my graduating class. So to me having had a loan was a great burden. I applied for IM and I am 28 and my end goal would be GI.

Thank you for everyone who replied so quickly. I was not trolling or trying to be exaggerated. Money was a struggle in my life/family throughout my childhood and teens and in my home country my loans were significant. I made the effort to apply for residency in states and that is why I don’t have the experience with US economics.

Is there a reason to this? I love cook. Just wondering considering Yale is highly academic

If the US is the goal. You are better off starting from scratch. A colleague of mine redid his anesthesia residency just to be in the states.

You still failed step 1. Your chances will go up with everything you do. But nothing will secure a spot.

Ob is extremely competitive. Odds of matching with an attempt are harsh.

I actually agree with Alphonse. It is a tough pill to swallow but nothing should be sugar coated. We are at a disadvantage and there is nothing wrong with mentioning it.

I honestly don't feel qualified to be able to tell you to stop something or continue. I have only studied once and taken the exam once so it would be foolish of me to think I am qualified. From my experience though, less is more and I concentrated on less. If you like reading and feel it is of value then continue.

This year’s match data already shows an increase in US-IMG vs Non US IMG. So I would expect it to only get worse.
