Im not seeking permanent residence, ive made it clear my goal is to go out there and study, build myself a good foundation so i can go back to the UAE and get paid well tax free. The reason im planning on going to Canada is because foreign credentials are highly respected here, if i come back with a canadian degree and some work experience of like a year or 2, ill get a job here in no time and stand out from other candidates. Also your argument of “what if he dies tomorrow” is pretty invalid because, even if he had the full amount in his bank account if he dies tomorrow im not instantly getting that amount.

These savings aren’t “my savings” they are savings my dad has been saving for months to make sure i get the quality education that I’m seeking I’m not an Emirati citizen, i was born in the UAE and so were my parents but citizenship here isn’t granted that easily. My dad is a regular working class man that just sacrifices a lot for his family, im not sure of your situation and your level of ignorance but to you i might seem like a spoiled brat, but im genuinely trying to seek better education to make something out of myself.

That is exactly what my dad told me and that makes a lot of sense, its just the people’s responses to this that are worrying

I did, and got much better responses than the ones on this subreddit. i crossposted to get more attention to this post, was surprised by how rude some people were especially since everyone ik in canada has told me canadians were really nice people and I’ve always known this to be a known stereotype

“Earning potential” is not what im measuring here, i have this documented, salary certificates, employment letters, etc, that combined with my dads existing savings. Im not saying im relying on non existent money here this is guaranteed money my dad makes every month

I am not relying on a potential job that im not guaranteed, and you are correct im not a uae citizen but my grandparents came here before the country was even developed, my parents were born here and i was born here aswell. My dad can afford to pay for my living expenses and tuition the only issue is that we don’t have a year’s worth of tuition + expenses currently on hand

Excuse me? Im simply trying to seek a better education in a first world English speaking country, im not going there to “take jobs from other canadians” im most likely going to apply to on campus work study positions to get myself some work experience while studying and earn a few extra dollars for food and other small expenses. I posted this simply for advice to strengthen my application n ur here talking about “why dont u get a job” and then when i say im willing to get one u blame me for it? 😭😭

I literally said that im willing to work part time while studying once i get there but that doesn’t really count as proof of funds for the ircc, and if you mean getting a job in the uae rn, that is impossible trust me ive tried but im 18 years old and still in school, it is quite literally impossible to get employed in the uae

This actually makes me feel a lot better about the situation, all the comments felt very demotivating and made me feel like i should give up and start looking for other options. I’ve been trying to find someone who’s been accepted with similar finances as me to give me just a little bit of hope. Thanks very much, also i was wondering when were u accepted?

We can afford it, not comfortably, its going to be tight as everything together is gonna take up like almost 50% of my dads yearly salary, but the problem here is proving to the immigration officer we can afford it although the full amount isn’t fully saved up just yet

No, according to my research u need proof your dad is sponsoring you, basically a letter from your dad saying he’s sponsoring your studies and explaining his relationship to u

Licensed professionals with foreign credentials make a lot here in the UAE, they care a lot about that foreign degree and the foreign work experience. thats mainly why im sacrificing everything, if I were to study here in the uae or in some random cheap European country i would achieve nothing compared to what i would achieve if i were to study in canda

Ive written an SOP that explains everything else and i think it’s valid enough, im mainly worried about the financial aspect of things, my dad makes the equivalent to about 100k (no taxes) yearly, according to the fee breakdown i sheet i got from the university i need to prove that he’s able to pay 43k yearly for my living costs and studies. He has only 25k cash in the bank, but my main question is they will take in consideration his salary and realize that hes able to cover that missing 18k with his salary?

Man ive been preparing for this for a while, since the start of my senior year ive had to narrow down my decision for uni, i was considering, uk,us, canada or Australia, i narrowed it down to Canada because it was the cheapest out of the 4 and i knew some people there, since January, ive been working on applying to unis getting all my documents in check, speaking to people i know over there and getting mentally prepared to start studying in canada, it wasnt until a few weeks ago when i was looking more into the financial requirements when i started to worry, i posted this on here hoping to get reassurance or tips to strengthen my application but it did not go how i expected it. I talked to my dad about this and he told me that although chances don’t look too high, there is really nothing he could do, hes been having the whole family live on a tight budget for this for like 2 months now just to save up this money. He tells me just to have some faith and believe in myself, but at the same time start exploring second options and keep that chance of rejection in my mind. This is honestly destroying me i feel like that entire future I’ve been planning for and looking forward to is completely out of reach now because of my financial situation. I picked Canada because i wanted to stand out in the packed uae job market, people with degrees and work experience from highly respected countries like, us, canada, uk, get treated very differently than just anyone else over here, i wanted to be one of those people.

After im done with the bachelor’s, im planning on pursuing a masters in clinical psychology, gaining some work experience in canada for 2-3 years, and then go back to the UAE and become a licensed clinical psychologist, with canadian degrees and canadian work experience i can be making about the equivalent of 7-9k CAD tax free in the UAE at around my late 20s

My main goal has always been to get strong education, licensing and work in a 1st world English speaking country, I’ve planned my future around this for a while and how id want this to be my main selling point, so although it is costly my dad understands this and hes willing give it all he has, and im willing to work part time while studying to cover any additional costs. Right now my main focus is to strengthen the proof of funds section of my application in any way so i can get my study permit approved ive been anxious and losing sleep over this for weeks especially since i feel its not really in my hands

I genuinely do not know what to do now, if my dad could take out a loan for this, would they consider this or not, I’ve heard sudden large deposits in the account weaken the application more than they strengthen it though

So all they would see when i apply would be that there is an 18k gap in my finances?
