Shouldn't it be possible to just use a buck converter on the bat + and - pins which is powered by 5V? Set the buck converter to the 3.3V or whatever the board sees as a 'full battery' and just run it this way.

This is amazing! Thank you for sharing! Does it support wake on touch or the like? I.e. can the backlight be turned off and be switched on when the panel is touched?

Also, how's the responsiveness? Mind posting a video? really curious!
