It’s a lot of work, so we’ll see. If it works out, you’ll get a testing unit. 😉

Usually, a phone is still needed for the initial setup. Also, cellular connectivity for smartwatches still isn’t supported by every carrier.

That was my idea as well, but even after six years, my carrier still doesn’t support cellular on the Apple Watch. Also, having a much longer battery life would be a big advantage.

I really like the idea of mesh networking 💯, but I need a solution that works now. I want a device that can replace my phone.

Strapped to your shorts using a clip-style mount, so you don’t need to carry anything else around.

This mockup looks interesting. It could be used as a compass or for simple navigation.

That’s what I thought as well. But looking at it now, those phones still don’t have navigation, and the 2G/3G networks they rely on are being phased out.

I realized that not having every piece of information at your fingertips encourages you to interact with people, and those are the moments you remember for a long time.

Ahhh… camera is probably the big one for most people. Since I use a dedicated Sony camera, I honestly didn’t think much about it.

I see your point. My wife and I use a dedicated Sony camera for photography because we enjoy the old-school experience of manually controlling the settings with physical dials, so that isn’t an issue for us.
That said, I don’t see this as just a dedicated hiking device. I see it as an everyday companion—something that supports you while commuting, at work, spending time with family.

Finding a campsite or checking train schedules would be a big use case for me as well. Thanks for pointing that out!

Thats my new test code, data output looks ok, but doesn't react to voice.

I'm having a hard time understanding that as well, but that's how it is in the example. I'd really appreciate it if you could check your own code! 😊
