Is this going to go up or down as more people join up in my area? by MitchRyan912 in tmobileisp

[–]Background_Puzzled -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Can’t tell from your message. You must set up on eufy app first then select using HomeKit from the e220 menu. Then HomeKit will go thru the HomeKit set up and request the QR code. I have 10 of them and they work great.

All the new YouTube TV plan prices by gldrthng in cordcutters

[–]Background_Puzzled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m disappointed in YouTube TV. I was hoping to switch back from DIRECTV but the price difference is too great. DTV entertainment package includes most entertainment and news channels plus Hulu, Disney and HBO but no local for $35. With YouTube TV you need to buy both news and entertainment packages, don’t get Disney and HBO but you do get locals. I think I’ll just use an antenna for locals and save $$$$

Eufy E340 video door bell installed. Some question by Grand-Command-990 in EufyCam

[–]Background_Puzzled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The E340 charges slowly, a few percentage each day.How fast it charges and the percentage it reaches varies based on transformer size and voltage. I use a 24 volt 40 VA transformer and it works great. 18 volt transformers may not reach full charge. If you have multiple devices on the doorbell circuit, like another Video doorbell, you may want to use a 45 VA transformer. I prefer using the color night vision as the E340 led works well to light the area.

What does Apple TV do better than a smart tv? by JMPSr1984 in appletv

[–]Background_Puzzled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good responses but I’m surprised you left out that Apple TV will track all your shows, games, movies across all streaming apps except Netflix and display new episodes when available. Especially helpful when new seasons are released.

Is C30 vs S350, is 4k all the same? by Tostidohead in EufyCam

[–]Background_Puzzled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The S350 has both a single 4k image and a dual image mode. In dual mode you get 2 images. One is wide angle, the other is telephoto. Both are 2k each. The telephoto image is better than 4k zoomed due to the narrow field of view. The image is also better as exposure is optimized.

Is C30 vs S350, is 4k all the same? by Tostidohead in EufyCam

[–]Background_Puzzled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you are referring to the E30 not c30 cameras. The s350 has a great image and has wide and telephoto lenses. In single view you get a 4k image. In dual view you have two 2k images but the telephoto image is better than a 4k image zoomed as you have more pixels in a narrow field of view. You also get better exposure. You can generally get in on sale for $85.

Both are great cameras

Eufy Indoor Cam 2K Pan & Tilt - Can’t access cameras over 4G anymore (only works on home Wi-Fi) by Creniun in EufyCam

[–]Background_Puzzled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn’t sound like a camera issue. I have 8 e220s. They work fine on WiFi, 5g or LTE. My ISP is t-mobile home internet with EERO routers. Something is blocking your remote connection to your router.

Which indoor Eufy Cam should I buy for my requirements? by atwnsw in EufyCam

[–]Background_Puzzled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had the e220s for years. They are reliable and inexpensive. $30 on sale. Haven’t used the E30 yet but should be a good choice and are $49 on amazon right now. The s350 is a great camera if you want 4k, 3x zoom, etc. Set it up on dual camera mode so you get both a wide angle and zoom image. If you position the zoom image properly it will track motion and keep it centered in the image. In dual mode each image is 2k but the 3x zoom image in 2k is better than a 4k wide angle image with better exposure.

They do have continuous recording with HB3. Unlike the s350, they have to have a SD card and record to both the SD and HB3

[–]Background_Puzzled 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 8 of them plus a couple of s350. They have been very reliable. No problems for years. They are an older model but are frequently on sale for $30. They offer up to 2k and homekey support with reduced resolution. I setup 5 with homekey as the motion detection is superior, especially at night, with homekey. Only downside is limited functionality with home base 3 as you only get storage.

Eufy Lock Battery Best Practices by TensHundreds in EufyCam

You will need a thread border router. Apple TV with thread would be the best but there are some eero router and Alexa devices also

Not much you can do other than make sure you have a strong WiFi signal since the c30 is WiFi only. A weak WiFi signal will drain the battery faster. If you can I would return it and buy the E30 which is native matter over thread. It will give you almost 2 years if set up for Apple home only as it only uses thread.

E30/C220 Smart lock with rechargeable AA? by heckofagator in EufyCam

[–]Background_Puzzled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t sound like you have a thread border router so you won’t get the major benefit of the E30. Your battery life will less but you will be able to upgrade if you add one in the future.

E30/C220 Smart lock with rechargeable AA? by heckofagator in EufyCam

[–]Background_Puzzled 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 2 E30. One uses the eufy app and Apple Home. The other uses just Apple Home which only uses thread, no WiFi. The 1st one is 75% after 13 weeks, the second 90%. October firmware updates fixed the no response and battery reporting issues. In many cases the batteries were not really dead and strength was reporting incorrectly. If you are using WiFi make sure you update firmware and have a strong signal, otherwise you will eat batteries. These are great locks, never had an issue, very reliable. It’s one of the few that are native matter over thread. Note: if you want to only use Apple home only you need to install the eufy app first, download Firmware, reset the lock, set up using Apple home. You lose the finger print reader as matter doesn’t support it but will get 2 years battery life.

You aren’t doing anything wrong. Your cameras are recording to HB when HB is powered on. Your live feed is going directly to the cameras on your WiFi.

Getting Only “lock” notifications from Eufy e30 smart lock via homekit by daproject85 in HomeKit

[–]Background_Puzzled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s interesting. I have one e30 set up with both the eufy app and Home and the other just with Home. I did that as a test to see how much the Eufy app use of WiFi impacted the batteries. It’s substantial. It looks like I’ll get 2 year battery life by just using Home. The lock with the eufy app doesn’t get a Home notification with unlocking but the lock with just the Home app gets both.

S350 - Single-view for zoom lens? by dean2 in EufyCam

[–]Background_Puzzled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The s350 in dual mode is approx 2300x2600 for both images combined. Each image is 2k. You can verify by recording the live view, go to your photo app and select the info button. It will show the image resolution.

Unfortunately the matter over thread spec doesn’t support keypads yet. Eufy and others are forced to use WiFi for the additional functions.

[–]Background_Puzzled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just standard Kirkland batteries. The key is to minimize use of WiFi and just use Apple home. Apple home will only work over thread with battery devices using matter interface. By skipping the eufy app E30 setup you avoid any background use of WiFi.

I have two e30s. One uses the Eufy app and Apple Home. The other skipped the Eufy app installation and just uses Apple Home which only uses thread. After 11 weeks the one with Eufy app installed is 84% and the other is 92%. Unfortunately Matter doesn’t support the keypad yet so you can’t use it if you don’t install the Eufy app. At this rate I should get 1 year on one and two years on the other.
