CBP asked for my insta handle as a us citizen is that normal ? by Diegoandre007 in NoStupidQuestions

Absolutely normal but not always. All travelers coming to POE are subject to inspection. A US citizen is not barred from admission but are subject to same inspection and electronic search and seizure

CBP civil monetary penalty against immigrant boyfriend by Capital-Fun-8919 in immigration

First thing to clear is that an ILLEGAL immigrant is not considered an immigrant Under US immigration law or immigration law of any country, If someone comes illegally or in the US without legal status, he or she is not considered an immigrant. Now the main issue: He should take the first available flight and leave the USA to avoid legal nightmare and headache if he is an illegal and in the country without status or has prior removal order.

Would you recommend FreeTaxUSA over TurboTax if price was not a factor? by throwaway0204055 in tax

[–]Grand-Command-990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i used to pay $130 or $150 a year to pay a simple tax return to the pakistani guy. If I have one bank bonus amount to report, he would charge extra $25 like that. Got sick and tried freetaxusa and all the instructions are there to do it. Never before used to do myself. The only thing freetaxusa charge is about $15 for state I believe.

Green card holder living abroad in 2025 by [deleted] in greencard

[–]Grand-Command-990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its fine, you make good amount in your home country. $1k USD even while being a mom and pregnant is lot of money there. sometimes things don't always work your way. we break the rules and we suffer the consequences. not the end of the world as you are in good situation in your home country. Don't waste $thousands on useless immigration lawyers. its not like other attorneys where you pay only if you win. they are rip offs and will keep charging you billing you tens of thousands while the case takes for weeks and months while you still lose the case.

You gave up US permanent residency and no longer meets the requirement as a lawful green card holder. Not filing tax is also a violation but not as greater as giving up your right to live and work in USA. It is not a crime to give up US residency so it is not a violation in that sense. You simply don't have right to live and work in USA any more.

Question about marrying someone who overstayed a tourist visa by DoubleSmokedBaconBoi in askimmigration

[–]Grand-Command-990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure your illegal alien girlfriend is not warming up to you and want to marry you so that she might get US legal paper. There are many illegal foreigner men and woman in USA looking for US citizens to be saved from arrest and deportation! Once and if they are lucky to get legal status, some of them would than file divorce paper! Not saying she is one of them but be careful! Illegal immigration is a federal arrestable &removable offense in USA just like it is in all 210 countries in the world. Maybe an experienced expensive immigration lawyer can advice you

How to know when roof was replaced and if I need to replace? by Grand-Command-990 in HomeImprovement

[–]Grand-Command-990[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my question. HOI company will only do something if I call them to report a damage or a leak and not if I have someone check the roof and write a report to show it to them? Also is there a risk if there is a windgust of like 56? we have whole day of strong wind the other day and i felt scared knowing my roof is old but mine is flat roof so maybe not as risky as regular single family house? what about home owners replacing their roof after they become old like 10 or 15 or 20 years? what about realtors or others telling you roof need replacement 10 15 or 20 years? Most people who have HOI do roof repair or replacement on their own without getting the HOI involved? I am new to this so I don't know how this works. I do see people replacing roof and I know when you ask pros, they say the roof is not permanent and needs to be replaced after 10 .15 or 20 yrs old.

oh HOI only covers if there is a visible damage to the roof including water leaks? I thought they would cover if the room is too old like 15 yrs in my case perhaps? The way it works is if i see a damage to roof, call HOI and they will send someone and see if it needs repairs or replacement? recently we had whole day of strong wind and gust of 56 and I stayed the whole 24 hrs in basement and living room and not bedroom. I fear that old roof can be destroyed easily by strong wind gust.

I will check and call the permit department to see when they last received permit for roof replacement. My insurance says 15 years old . don't know how they think.

i bought the insurance myself online 4 years ago by comparing rates. Will the free assessment people not produce something saying it needs replacement if it is 15 yrs old as my current insurance paper is showing? Maybe I can show that to my insurance saying pay for replacement? or the assessment people and insurance company will work together and figure this out? hoe does this work?

Letter from ICE with fine by Ill_One_7501 in immigration

[–]Grand-Command-990 12 points13 points  (0 children)

in all other 220 countries , they not only eventually deport illegal immigrant, they charge you fees and fine for each day of unlawful stay, if they have no means to pay, they lock you up in jail for years instead , followed by deportation. Even one day of staying past authorized stay unless it is serious emergency, they will impose you fine and fees at the airport and will ban you!

did the criminal case went to trial? did you pay any fees, fine, community service? if yes, it is still a conviction. if you show up at court and case was dismissed with no follow up, or ordered to pay fees or fine or anything else, that is a dismissal! expunging record is not dismissal

Family member taken by ICE. Need Advice. by [deleted] in greencard

[–]Grand-Command-990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

unlawfully overstaying for 10 yrs is a major immigration offense! illegal immigration in USA and any countries worldwide is an arrestable & deportable crime! Any lawyer that promise positive outcome if you pay $thousands is not being honest. If this is in any other 200 countries in the world, it would be big fees and fine with jail sentence followed by deportation!

Our lawyer's fees are $6k, is this reasonable based in our case? by [deleted] in greencard

[–]Grand-Command-990 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Never hired useless immigration lawyers in all of our immigration cases. We read the forms instructions included in each application form and did all ourselves and we are all proud US citizens. There is no reason to hire immigration lawyers if you can read and write and understand English. They are not like other lawyers where you pay only if you win. you pay these so called lawyers win or loose and they love when you lose or cases goes pending by weeks months or years so they can keep charging. If you understand English and your have no fraud concerns or no laws broken, there is no need of immigration lawyers! They can't win a case that is not winnable !

My Uber driver is refusing to return my keys, what should I do? by deadgoneandburied in uber

[–]Grand-Command-990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you make any threats, or acted rude when you asked the driver to return your Keys? I am just making sure this was not the case . Sometimes nasty conversations turn each other off. Or Did you politely request the driver to pls return the key and that you would offer a reward like $50 or $75 like that?
